Yes, I agree... its the same as hitting the "return to main menu " button, except you get to skip one click, that being the "metaverse" button. You still have the 8 or so clicks to go after that to generate another map. Is there any way to disable this "feature"?
AW Trespasser
could you type out the link to one of these mysterious discussions with one hand please?
Thank you for smacking some sense into me I was away too long. One last question... is there any way to disable the cntrl-n feature that takes you to metaverse screen? I was not one of the ones sending you emails, never had a problem submiting metaverse games after cntrl-N, and this new feature in efffect completely nerfs cntrl-n for me...
Yep, so I patched and all that jazz... got my 6800gt with brand new drivers on a fresh install of windows xp pro... Havent actualy pushed end turn yet because of three seemingly important features not working. Race color... no matter the color I choose, my influence circle is rainy day gray. Blind exploration toggle... either way, Im blind to other races start locations. Control N... instead of regenerating a map, it takes me to metaverse log in screen. <br
I am starting to think I messed up the patch somehow. Race color = not working Blind exploration = not working, always blind Control N = Takes me to metaverse log in screen instead of regenerating a map. I admit I haven't been reading the posts here for a week or so, did I miss something?
Before the patch, I could choose what color my influence / borders were by choosing the "race color". After patch, I although I chose yellow, my empire shows up grayish blue instead. I am not sure what info to post except that I use an nvidia 6800 gt with drivers updated last week, on a clean hardrive with windows xp installed last week.... Am I missing some new "feature" on this one?
I have been away while waiting for the metaverse scoring to be fixed, so maybe I missed something about this. When I start a new game, whether I turn blind exploration on or off I can not see where the other races start. Maybe you need stellar cartography for that now? Maybe metaverse games have it off no matter the toggle? Anyone else have this problem, or is it a "feature"?
FrogBoy Said: So, for instance, that 4million score that someone got by playing the system will end up being 13,300 instead (though we're going to delete the score entirely since it was a clear case of abuse). [rant] Which is it? Playing the system, or abusing it? It can't be both. I would also
I am really surprised anyone is arguing on the side of capital ships. Lets assume both sides are equaly advanced in techs. Lets say producing 1 capital ship requires the same amount of production as, just a wild guess, 10 fighters. Battle begins, lets let the cap ship go first. It can only destroy one fighter , no matter its awesome firepower rating. 9 fighters return fire. Bye bye capital ship. End re
Just remember these scoring rules will soon be changed, and are already changed in beta apparently. I lost my bling so that would happen.
Yes, your overal economy helps your score... the larger your economy, the better.
You should do your score testing on small or tiny galaxies.... much quicker to determine what works and what doesnt. I am surprised they let beta scores into the metaverse... but what do I know.
If you are playing the current version then its simple, and I proved it so well that they deleted my score. I wont spoil it for you, but find a way to hit end turn repeatedly, as the main determiner for score is how long you play. And galaxy size and number of planets does matter, as the length of time is multiplied by how large your civilization is. I posted a score of 4.68 million, so I know what I am speaking of.<br/
Problem detected... pressing end turn increases score. Infinitely. Emails sent to stardock.... no reply. Posts on forum detail problem, with much discussion, no developers reply. Demonstration made on small galaxy, taking first place by above method for all small galaxy games.... no one noticed. Finaly, as a last resort, I submit the most preposterous game imaginable, all the while telling everyone this is a problem. Oh, NOW you notice. Your right, the score
You know what? Screw it, you're stupid. If you can't tell the difference between an exploit and an option that is built into the game setup UI, there's no hope for you. I learned this method of scoring lots of points from the guy currently in first place. If you are too dense to figure out that's how he got his score, I guess I am done with yo
About the whole refund thing... some of you can't take a joke well, or recognize one, I suppose. Like they are ever going to give anyone a refund, lol. They have lawyers design TOS so that they never have to do that under any circumstances. If thier game blows up your computer, starts a fire, kills your pets and your children, they are not liable, and on top of that they don't owe you a refund.
I am not whining. I volunteered to delete my score the moment they fixed the problem, and I meant it. However, deleting it because you don't like the way I achieved a non cheat victory is not so honorable. Fix it, don't hide it. All of this is pointless now that I have been shown the link where they state what they are going to do. NONE of this would have happened if they had simply mentioned it would be
Possible, but he had only played 15 years for a gigantic suicidal game. He himself admits it, its not "possible", its true.
Ahh, thanks for the link, that explains much and makes me happy! I am very glad the problem will be fixed in 1.1 HOWEVER: The top 5 scores still listed are all cheese victories with influence victories turned off, and they aren't deleted. Thus, manualy deleting cheese scores isnt working so great, now is it.
If my score is to be deleted because it was an exploit, then any game played with influence victory turned off must also be deleted for the same reason.
I can't find the post now, but in some thread 1-3 days ago Frogboy said that since that score was designed merely to cheat the system that it was being taken down in addition to the scoring changes. I would very much like to see that post. The post I saw was paraphrased : "Don't worry, the
Isee now my only medals are "cakewalk" and "custom race" I have never played a cakewalk game... and my rating yesterday was painful. So, I'm to be punnished for exposing a GLARING problem in the metaverse scoring system? Deleting my ranks and scores is somehow going to fix the problem????
Ok, so I posted a score of 4.68 million. Rather than fix the metaverse scoring, they delete my score. My score was just as legit as the 2nd place score, the guy admits he did the same thing I did, he just didnt have the patience to do it as long as I did. The metaverse scores can be recalculated when the metavers scoring system is fixed, frogboy says so himself. So isn't it a bit hypocritical of them to delet
I hope they'll adjust all the old scores or reset the metaverse when they finally fix it. If they fix it, I will be happy to delete my score... I will rejoice in pushing "delete my scores". They won't even have to do it for me. I think I should be allowed to keep a "former 1st place"
