Thank you CariElf for fixing/updating DA for us. I'm gladly using your test builds. I did come across what I think may be a bug where the game locked up solid on me. But since it had nothing to do with a fleet pathfinding problem I didn't post about it in this thread. But in case your on a bug hunt and you want to read my post about it you can find it here... Hello, I wanted to let you know about the game locking up solid on me when I used the Civilization Manager. I am using the 1.80f unofficial update. There was a meeting of the United Planets Council. The vote was concerning what the minimum speed of a Constructor should be. A minimum of 5 parsecs won the voting. My current 'Ion Constructors' could move 3 parsecs per turn. I launched one and found that it could now move 5 parsecs per turn. I selected one of my planets th

Hi Renfl, I went to the link you provided but do not see any download links. So I tried registering with the forum, but I have yet to receive any confirmation/activation e-mail from the system. I am pretty darn certain I put in my correct e-mail address, I looked at it a couple extra times to try and ensure I put it in correctly before submitting my registration. If it helps, the username I created for my account is OneTinSoldier. Anyway, right now I don't see any down

Hello, I'm really glad to hear you are going to work on your Babylon 5 mod again rav8! I really wanted to try it out and wanted to try it along with Spaxspore's Media Pack. Alas, I was unable to find a place to download his pack, so I contacted him via e-mail. He said Filefront keeps deleting the file for some reason, but he would upload it if I knew of a good file hosting site. So I just replied to him a few minutes ago telling him he ought to try Gamers Hell. So now I have my fingers

Poor guy. I don't know if it'll help but I'll give your post a bump. Can you possibly post a screenshot of what SDC looks like when you are trying to get the download to show up? Also, have you tried e-mailing Stardock about the problem? You might try [email protected] Or better yet, there is a chat area/function in SDC where apparently you can join an IRC channel and might be able to get 'live' help. Here's something I copied and pasted from the following thread... https:/

Hi, Hard for me to remember my exact method but it's pretty much the following on Large and Gigantic maps which are the only two sizes I have played on... I pretty much go for what would probably be considered a straightforward head-on approach. I made a fast colony ship by stripping the default one and putting one colony module on it, 3 hyperdrive engines on it(i think it's 3), then a couple of life support modules iirc. I think that left room to also put one sensor module

Hehe. Well overall this is a very minor bug. I did have this game saved a turn or two before this happened. I loaded that save up and played again. A turn or two later I recieved a different message from them this time around... 'There is a roumor that you are about to attack us. Why would that be?' Cheers

Well Quitch. I think if you take a close look you'll see he asked two questions... 1) who is the competition? 2) how do they do it better? As I stated in my reply, I'm just an end user and a system admin. I do know some BASH Shell scripting but I'm no C/C++ developer that knows the ins and outs of memory management. Therefore, if Alfb was specifically wanting to know 'how the competition does memory management better'

Hi, I'm running v1.1. Just a little while ago I had a Minor Race inform me that my 'Military Starbase 8049(creative name by the way)' was making them nervous. Yet, I didn't have any Military Starbase 8049. I did have a planet in the vicinity and I noticed that the influence border from my planet was just starting to infringe upon the border of their planet. I am assuming that was the reason for the 'nervous' message. Nevertheless, seems like a bug to me because I certainly didn't have

in my last game i had the AI ask me for an allience (he even payed me some cash for it) .... but beware .... the AI then proceded to declare war to every other AI and drag me into it all Omg Selous! Well, I am glad to hear that the A

Out of curiosity, who is the competition and how do they do it better? This is obviously completely off-topic, but... How about MAC OSX and, well... have a look at my nick, LINUX. Both different from but based off the underlying principles of yet another OS... UNIX. Solaris is a

Also, is there a way where I can bring up saved ship designs (just the extras) from previous games? When I update a ship design, I keep the design but just update the tech (engine, weapon, defense etc) usually save it the same name. Apparently these ships are saved with the tech on them. So when I start a new game, these ships are unavailable for use and I can't bri

You are using Stardock Central to try and update the game... correct? I'm not sure what to make of that error, perhaps a Stardock person would know what to make of it. Might have just been something wrong with Stardocks server at the time you were trying to update. Again, are you are using Stardock Central to try and update the game? When using Stardock Central it defaults to having it show you and update your game with 'Pre-Releases'(beta) versions that are available. Since you say y

I have no idea. I would think it works just as good on all sizes, but I can't say 100% for certain. Having played on Large, and now playing on a Gigantic, it's seems to be playing equally good on the Gigantic map from what I have seen so far.

I don't know either but I'll bet they do use the extra picks. What I think would be interesting to know is how they pick them. Are they picked by random(random number generator)? Or is there a set usage table? As in each AI race always uses the same picks as set in stone by the devs. I would think it would be random but you never know, maybe not. At any rate, good question.

*bump* To try and make sure this bug isn't forgotten, although it does seem rare as Big J Money says. And yes, I now know that putting a Manufacturing Capital on a bonus tile doesn't give you a bonus. Cheers

Well, I don't have that problem, at all. I have noticed that if you are deep into a long game and you load a save that you made for that point, that it takes longer than a save point that you made early game. NOW, with that said, HOW ABOUT YOU LIST YOUR SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS!? That may give some insight as to why it's taking a couple of minutes for you and/or crashing. I have also seen some posts by devs on here that they are working on solving a memory usage problem for systems that

Yes it does - it is a Geforce 3 Ti500 Ahh yes. If he's(she?) trying to play the game on an ancient and antiquated Geforce Ti 500 then that would explain a lot eh! For people that come on here and do not know about posting the contents of the debug.err file it would be nice if they were at least posting their system specs, like the f

Hello, Go to the main 'GalCiv2' folder and in there you will find a file named 'debug.err'. Open it with Notepad and copy and paste it's contents in here. In other words, post the contents of that file on here for people to read. It will probably help someone to be able to help you. After people read that you may be told that you need to update your systems 'drivers', or they may see something else wrong after looking at it. Either way, you should make sure that you have your systems

Well, I guess the title pretty much says it all, but while I'm here I'll ask one more question for someone more knowledgable. Last game I reseached whatever tech it is to get a better government, Interstellar Government I think. I chose Democracy but it never seemed to show me as getting the bonuses. It shows Democracy as getting 50 for a few areas(50-50-50, i forget exactly which three areas, i know one is economy). All it ever showed was me as receiving was a bonus for being an Im

Hi, In case someone knows the answer, I have a question. I remember seeing somewhere that in order to get an Alliance you offer the Alliance and ask for the Alliance with someone that is 'close'(now i read perhaps friendly will do). Ok, but when I have done this with someone that is close, they refuse, as if it's a bad deal. So far I have always had to offer some money to boot(playing with tech trading turned off for now). Has anyone gotten an Alliance by just offering to trade Allian
