I ran into the Fundementalist at my last game (well.. actually, 2 of my planet betrayed me, and many other planets spawned them), I guess they are something like the I-League? an alliance of "goodies" minor races?

I would love the option of a "neutral zone" (StarTrek reference : a teritorry where none of the two neighbour can go in, or the war is automaticly declared from the other) between 2 races that just made peace, and are still on the verge of conflict. After all, COME ON, the Torian once tried to "sneak" 4 transports + escort toward the planet closest to their border while we were at peace. THERE WAS 2 SECTOR OF DIFFERENCE! The AI should have considered t
Well, as I see it, if you are on the loosing side of a war, you Vassal state is more likely to revolt than anything else. That's why you have to put THEM on the front, or you'll end up with both an invasion and an insurrection on your hand!
Well.. giving back conquered planets cannot be possible anyway, 'cause you either exterminated the population, or you turned them to your side. there are no "resistance" possible... But.. when an AI is loosing a war to another one.. They swear an oath of loyalty to you, and you protect them. Attacking AI have 2 options: Stop the war, or continue by declaring war to you. And YOU could surrender to an AI when you are almost crapped
The only game that I think can compete with AC is... GalCiv I and II, but they don't have the same advantages.. xcept if SD continues their good work! Take AC's best ideas, put them into GC, and no one could be a match
Look at a topic called "influence bubble", I had the same strange thing happening with the Arcaean. But I was in position to fight back their influence. While I build about 10 influence-maxed starbase, with every tech available, I could not make their border flinch.. at least, I protected my own.. until, by miracle, their influenced dropped to a normal level. My Arcaean and your Dominion probably got a random influence event. While you lost
Not to start international incident on this board, but I bet most here don't care what the French think. I hope you do not imply that no French wanna play this marvelous game? You do not care what the rest of the world think? sad.. sad... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smi
I'd just like to add myself to the list of people who haven't had any problems with the game, think it's great, and really appreciate the support you provide. It's very frustrating that people assume that because you continue to support the game after release, it must have been unfinished when you released it. It clearly wasn't,
If some of you played Alpha Centauri, when you finally have nearly beaten a computer, they told you "We surrender!! We will give you all our credit (3) and all our technology if you sign a blood truce!", and if you accepted, it was always : "All right, but you will have to become my Pact Brother", and then, they would be your VASSAL nation (Oh yhea! less micro-management). I then gave them back all the base I conquered (except those with really strateg
Evil Civs should have the option of "Mutual Aggression Pact" when they sign an alliance. Or when you declare war on someone, you should have the option "Attack the drengin or I break our alliance" (like in Alpha Centauri. None of my pact brothers wanted to be on my "next target" list) After all, didn't the Klingons asked the Federation to follow them in an aggressive war, and the alliance then broke? It would be nice to have that option. <br
Plant disease- Very contagious virus epidemics. Not lethal, but lowers productivity. Since it's difficult to infect entire planet, effect should be lowering production by 30-75%, and this varies every month (Spreading or fading of disease). Also, epidemic should last for some time, and if planet has trade route, disease could spr
No, but if you go back a bit further, there is a reason why the Americans didn't invade Canada after they finished their own revolutionary war. Actually, they *did* tried to invade Canada during the revolutionnary war, but they lost a battle at Quebec, when they attacked in a snowstorm, and got their
there is a population cap on a planet of about 20 million x (PQ + 1)^3 or something like it, whatever farm you put on the planet.
Maybe the english's reviews are mostly dones, but I am still waiting for www.jeuxvideo.com to take out a french review. As I remember, they said high praise about GC1 (which incited me to download the demo, and the demo conviced me to buy the game, which I sporadicly played for over 3 years. The best 30$ spent on a game). Do you plan on translating the game in french any time soon? Specially if you can create a french version of StarDock to download the game, and can convince the majo
Nasa doesnt build more space shuttles when our construction industry slows down... No, but the U.S. build more weapons when the industry slows down. Which is Military spending.. Anyway, I feel that I am split between the #2-3-4. 4, because I often come up with some crazy idea about new system in the game (cycled trade routes,
I always though usefull, when I begin to specialize my colonies (and play with a LOT of planet) to always mark every colony names with a letter before the Colony's name. M = Money Colony R = Research F = Factory I = Influence Helps a lot when you wonder "what did I wanted to do with this planet?"
It would be a lot better if we had a 3d map (and circular. When you reach the top-layer, you get to the bottom-one). The difference between zoomed-in and zoomed-out would be much the same than Homeworld's. It's not "that" difficult to consider, after all. "Sphere of influence" would be real-spheres. Now, that is something I have never seen: a 4X game in 3d. (2-morrow, 1 great game) (And while we are on the topic of weir
Maybe in the Good Vs Neutral Vs Evil, but not in other games After all, while I played human, I had historic friendship with Drengins
I still happen to beat the AI with my faster hunting pack of 4 frigates, 2 Warp engines and ONLY weapons on each. At the first hits in a war, this is the best strategy. The AI did not adapted to your weaponry, so it defenses are low, and you can usually wipe most of its fleet in the first strike. After, even if they hit you, they don'T hold for long. Never underestimate first strike. Like AD&D: Initiative is the key to close-call battles Until they use adapted d
Can't you already play as drengin, and be good?
I created once a custom race with red as interface color. Could not differenciate me from the Drengins.. was kinda weird. Specially on the "timeline" screen
after conquering a Drengin World with a custom race (United Federation, used one of the new logo! , the conquered world had a HUGE population, too huge to be even possible, with 100% approval rating, and all.. (and counting 75000 bcs of taxes).. I only cheated once in this game, and it was ages ago, for a +10 000 bc, so I don't think it the bug's reason. The next week, the planet *only* had 17billions of population (kn
But the thing that really gets me, the thing that I can't get over, is the effete tech tree. All the improvements are buffs on existing abilities, you never get any new ones. Going to the top of the beam tech tree means you have a bigger version of the exact same thing at the bottom. Big whoop. Instead of getting 50x 1 beam you get 1 x 50beam. YAWN. No range increase, n
