hmm - I've been playing Oblivion quite a bit now - got a couple of characters up to level 10 - (though I've done about 4 char's so far - trying to find the right balance of skills for the way I want to play + testing some mods etc.). I've yet to test a magic user yet though - thats my next job... (note the following is just a quick rundown of my initial impressions of the game - so it's very subjective <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g

Hmm - oh well... Another one for the wish list

Is it possible to alter the font size in this game? I'm only asking since my DAW can play it at 1920x1440 - but I'd like to have a readable font for that... I had a look in the prefs.ini file - but couldn't see anything... Anyone? Thanks...
As soon as I saw that they had marked it down for not being multi-player, I put gamingtrend.com on the list of review sites to 'miss'... I hate it when reviewer's do that - be it in games/music/film or otherwise... It's like reviewing a Jazz trio and complaining there's no drums, lol - (which would make it a quartet). Yes, ok - it might be nice - it might even make them sound better - but there might be a very good reason they don't have a
Sigh - the dreaded copy-protection monster stikes again, lol... The problem with PC software, is that it's not really a good fit for normal 'standard' copyright protection - since the games are installed to a writable media for use - unlike music or most console games,.. With console games and music - it's the CD/DVD you are buying, with the data/music on it - not the code/music itself - similar to a book - you buy the paper - but
Wish I could help out with this mod - but I'm artistically challenged - (except for music) - and, IMO, we could really do with a way of making racial tech-trees - (I think one of the mods spoke about it?) - so the Rebels/Imps etc. would ahve different tech/ships etc. I'd love to work out the tech trees though
Can someone tell me how the size and sizemod attributes work together in the GC2Types.xml file, thanks....?
I know about gc2builder - it's just not that much use to me yet... (I'm not interested in making maps or scenario's yet).
thats roughly what I'm doing atm aswell Syneris... I've currently got lots of notes for the tech tree and starbase xml files - but am not sure about adding noew planetary improvements - they keep on mentioning the unique names as being linked with the code - if we add new ones will they affect anything since the names won't be in the code with the others? I'm just slowly sketching out a tech-tree atm,,, The only real problem I've got is th
Cool - I've been looking at modding the tech tree - (as in a 'total conversion' for a while - I was looking through the xml file earlier and was wondering how well the AI would cope with a completely different tech tree - I guess I'll have to try it and see though.. (I wanted to do a total conversion with teh first GC, but even using the Editor for that it didn't seem to let me play around with
it's only a txt file - you can open it in notepad and copy & paste it...
want I want atm is to have the option of making the relations beween the player and the computer players permanent - I've had enough of starting a game being at wat then have them talk to me all teh time trying to get me to sign a peace treaty :-/
Not so much of a bug - but very annoying in a large empire: The amount of times I've realised that my colonies have built a lot of constructor ships without me being notified through the gnn reports etc. and since I play with the game fairly zoomed out and gigantic universes it makes it an absolute pain to have to go and look at every colony every turn to make sure they haven't built a ship without me being told... I've had this h
You need to find somewhere else to host it, lol - I'm sorry but over an hour to download 3.6MB is rediculous - even for dial-up - (and I've got a 2MB connection) :-/
I know what you mean about this sort of thing - World of Warcraft was similar for me - except that burnt out it's stay a lot sooner than this has... Of course - the one thing going for this game is that it's possible for you to change (mod) it if there's stuff in it you don't like... Having said that - it could do with a proper program for editing/modding it - similar to the one for GC1 at least... (My friend wishes for a full SDK - but th
Well - it works in 1920x1440 - though the text is a bit too small - so 1600x1200 it is... For some reason it just can't do anything above 1280x1024 in fullscreen mode, and the settings in game don't go above 1280x1024 either - but thats about it by the looks of things...
The resolution options in game though still won't go above 1280x1024... And even in windowed mode at 1600x1200 - it might aswell be fullscreen... I'll have to test it in 1920x1440 now
HOWEVER - it IS now working in windowed mode at 1600x1200 - it just can't so fullscreen for whatever reason...?
ok - skipping the intro works fine at 1280x1024, and the preload models also has no effect... However - as soon as I raise the resolution above 1280x1024 - regardless of the settings - it doesen't work and crashes out...
ok - I found the prefs.ini file - (should have known it was in the My Games folder - *duh* - I@ll try disabling the intro there etc. and see what happens... I@ll also make sure it's trying to run it in the correct resolution... I'll let you know what happens...
Ok - debug files... here's the one that dosen't work: Debug Message: Version v1.0X.1 last updated on: Mon Mar 6 13:57:14 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 3/17/2006, 22:00:51 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Machine Name: DAW-GAMES Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
actually - it HAS to be something to do with card and the game at over 1280x1024 - simply because if it was anything else, the game wouldn't work at all... (And it works fine if I put the desktop to 1280x1024 - but the reason I'm putting it on my DAW to begin with is that I want it at 1600x1200!....).
32-bit colour isn't the issue either...
It's not the drivers etc. - I just updated them - exacly the same thing.. The only thing I can think of is that there's something about the game that dosen't like running it over 1280x1024 on the 9600...?
