The only EA games I've got on my comp atm, are Tiger Woods 2006 - (since it's still the best golf game I've played on the PC so far - (not sure about the 2007 version yet)) - and I'm trying out the NFL head coach game, just to see what it's like - (though I can't buy it here in the UK anyway) - since I'm after a decent football management game (got a bit bored with FM2006 and thought I'd try something different). Hmm - I hate to say this - but I can't see the game working that well - and staying true to the star wars universe - using the racial configuration you've shown here. Why? Because the Star Wars universe isn't about races, (per se) - it's about factions... The only two races with I'd say are factions, are the Hutts and the Yuuzhan Vong, all the others are part of a larger faction, and some of those will have pretty much the same tech etc. - which is not really what we're after.

Hmm - another fantasy 4x game - sounds good to me... Wish I could do the music for it though - or at least one fantasy style game... (I've yet to 'hear' a game with some good celtic music in it ). Pity I need more instruments (Cash! :-/) to do it right though (Though I'm working on it).

The other advice I have to give is that as early as possible you want a high (as possible) class planet set up (in advance with the build list) as an economic capital - the sooner that comes online - the quicker you'll be able to get the money flowing in... Mainly a matter of getting the right balance between farms/entertainment centres...

Yes, - once you've registered an official copy - you can download it whenever you want for free - for instance I've lost my Galciv 1 disk - but's it's still registered on stardock central so I could still download it and play it...

Can't you just hit the 'b' button to create a starbase with a stacked constructor selected? - I'm pretty sure you can since I had the same problem and did that once - (I think - (my memory is not so good, lol)).

Windows has a specific 2GB page file that you cannot alter/delete affect in any way on C:. This is fixed... However, it is possible (and it's nearly always the case) that there is another 'page file' or virtual memory set up too - which is what you see when you go to system properties -> advanced etc. What it's reporting here is whatever you've set up in the properties + the standard 2GB page file...

You tried running it in windowed mode? I'm seeing this problem a lot - (similar to the problem I had on my DAW - the monitor on that is a Sony/SGI GDM5011P, which I know can run at 1920x1440@72hz - but the DDC info on it is limited to 1280x1024 - so it can involve some mucking around sometimes to get stuff to work at higher resolutions. The game seemed to be using the DDC info for the monitor since it would never display anything above 1280

Try windowed mode... I had the excatly same problem on my DAW when trying to run anything above 1280x1024 - (desktop is normally in 1600x1200, and I wanted to run the game in that too - but for some reason it would only run in windowed mode - (though it looks exactly the same as fullscreen mode, so don't worry about that)). Try altering the prefs.ini file in My Documents/My Games/Galciv2 if you can't start the game at all to alter

the 'races' (I think 'faction' was the word I was looking for?) I'd envision in a Star Wars total conversion would be 1) Empire, 2) Rebellion, 3) CIS, 4) Old Republic, 5) New Republic, 6) Black Sun 7) Smugglers (Guild?) 8) Yuuzhan Vong 9) Hutts Any more suggestions? Thats roughly what I was thinking - though I might have missed a couple of things?

The only real advantage of making a Star Wars total conversion compared to some others I can think of - (Babylon 5/Star Trek etc.) - is that at least all the groups in the Star Wars Universe will use the same basic tech - which is what we need - however, ship models, some tech and planetary improvements etc. will have to be done on a per-group basis, which atm, can only be done for three groups - rather than the nine that we (I? <img src="http://images

FOLLOW - UP: Well - I just thought I'd load in the save games I had to see if it still had this problem - (including an old autosave to see if the same thing would happen - and for some reason it didn't - by the time the game reached the same point - I had over 10k bc... Wierd... Tested the other save games and neither of them had the problem either... Oh well - never mind, though I'll keep an eye out and see if it happens again

Unfortunately such an idea would run into the same problem as any other total conversion atm - the need for racial tech-trees - without them - you're limited to three unique races, based on their ethical alignment and nothing else... you could do that - but it'd make balancing the different ship sizes and tech out rather difficult - game-time wise... And there wouldn't be much room for maneuver either... you could have completely different tech trees for each race if you want - but balancing such a thing is a nightmare - which is why I suggest you use the same tamplate for all - but change the parts that matter - (though we still need racial tech trees to make it worth it).</font
