have a good reason to break a minor race alliance they beat me to a class 15 planet and I wanted revenge I thought minors can't colonize planets?
Rabid_Monkey
Yeah, I also think maps with more planets are easier, I usually play on Huge, Common systems and Occasional planets and habitable ones, non-random AI on painful. From beta 1 to 4 I actually felt the game became easier, to the point my last game with beta 4 felt a bit like Star Empires IV experience, where the AI's did nothing and watched me became overwhemingly powerful, they were all warm towards me, some where close, and then I decleared war on all o
I have reported this in the 1.1beta thread, but decide to make a seperate post here too because this one really bugs me. Everytime, when an AI says 'We aid your war with our finest ships', it'll give you starbases instead of ships. So far, I've been given militar bases right by their homeworlds, multiple resource bases, and multiple economy bases nowhere near me but surronds one of HIS planets (How is this helpping my war effort??). One extr
On Painful the AI sure does fit their ships to counter my main ships. I research one weapon and equip it on 70% of my ships, then a lesser weapon tech on the rest 30%. After a few months into war, AI ships are likely (not always) to show up with defenses for my main weapon! There was even one instance the Drengi showed up with a fleet of brand new ships with shield rating of 6, they had a maximum of 1 before, instantly rendering all my main line frigat
Why don't you try the sandbox mode? I bought the game a month ago, never tried the campaign, and I'm still playing it whenever I have time, that's how good it is and tons of things to like/love about it, especially the ship designer, have you tried that?
Yeah, all you need is a credit card. I'm in China and I've had no problems.
I would like to see better graphics: Special effects, better use of cameras, etc. The battles should look movie like. Something like Star Wars: Empire at War would be nice. The best space captial ship explosion effects I've seen was in Nexus.. the explosions we have now is..not quite like an explosion. If some simple tactical combat is included, that would be super nice as well. I guess what I really want is GC2's strategy and AI
Or change sentry mode to 'wake up only when ships from races I'm at war with'. And I don't understand the difference between sentry and guard either! Maybe we should bump this thread enough times until it gets attention!
1.1 B3. If this is intended or is in the change log I apologize, but I find it a little annoying : Once you update a ship design, the older design is automatically deleted. I used to keep older designs for a long while to track how many ships of each type I have. Suggestion: Change Sentry mode to 'wake ship up only when enemy ships came near by'. Enemy ship are ships from races that I'm at war with. As it is now I find it useless because I play on Huge and the map tends to
Forgot to mention, I'm reporting these for Beta 3.
AI Still gives you starbases instead of ships: It's like this since beta 1, when an AI says he's sending you ships to aid your war effort, he's giving you starbases. I've never received an actual ship but starbases, sometimes fully upgraded resource bases! In one game the Korx gave me three fully upgraded influence mining bases in its empire, in the months that followed four of his planets rebelled to join me -------
Hello, I have the download version and would like to upgrade too. Could you pose the link? I'll let you know here if it worked for me.
I'm in Beijing and I found out about the game by reading the gamespot review. I base my purchases solely on that site (due to lack of time), so I'd say advertising is important for people actively seeking for a good game to purchase, be it ads or reviews. Now that GC2 has collected a healthy number of reviews and awards, just be sure to include them all, for anyone who doesn't trust ads it would be hard to doubt when there are so many good reviews on t
Great idea! I hope it'll be added. At least we should be told who decleared/signed peace with who, it's a pain in the behind to check traties every couple of turns.
Hah.. I have the powerbook 17 and the 30 inch cinema display, I'd LOVE to have a mac version but oh well, it won't happen. My PC is entirely for gaming only.
The tactical combat kills it for me.. well it's nice to see my ships but the action and special effects are..I know it's not bad for a 4X game consider most 4x game have amature graphics, but why is that? Anyway, now GC2 is a best selling mainstream game maybe in GC3, SD will have the budget to have top of the line graphics too. Imagine, the same game but with tactical and ground combat like those in Star Wars Empire at War or Nexus! I'll p
Totally agree on that laser looks cooler.. it's the only weapon effect that looks like a weapon effect Singularity drivers are the worst in my opinion, once I saw what it looked like, I had it removed from all my ships hehe
Launch stardock central, right click on 'GalCiv2' entry and choose 'restore archive'. If you haven't archived manually, I THINK stardock central automatically makes an archive before you apply a patch, so you can revert to that version this way. If there is no previously archived version, then you'll have to uninstall the game and download it again. I did this myself <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border
Hi. I bought the game basically because you can design the looks of your own starships, I've been looking for a game like this ever since I played the first civilization, it's just too cool to create your own unique looking units without having to spending any time at all in a 3D modeler. Here is some tips for using and managing your ship designs if you have a lot of them. You can also download my Imperial fleet shipset fro
Yeah. Windows plays sound, and tried star wars empire at war and it has sound. Since none of you are having problems and I haven't had any problems with GC2 before, I assume something went wrong with my copy ( I've been going back and forth between 1.0X archived copy and 1.1b1 a couple of times). So now I unsintalled the game and is downloading the whole thing again.... At 5K/Sec...AHHHH <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles
sure did. I even went as far as redownload the multimedia portion of the game, the game still doesn't make a noise.
I just tried update before leaving for work. There seem to be no audio: No sound, no music, nothing. My volume and audio drivers works fine in windows. I updated via stardock over the first beta.
Uhhh, what about the bug that prevent you from upgrading a ship, thinking any component is too big even when the hull is empty?
This is THE bug that made me changing back to 1.0x, I'm the kind of guy who can live with CTDs but gotta have good looking ships!
Like what jasper have said, you wouldn't know in the details screen until you add a module. I think 1.1 final should hcange the highlighting ciricle to highlighting tiles.
