The Terrans are inept and will never amount to anything. Ever. They might as well be Intelligent with all the other AIs being on a really low setting, and they'll still get whooped. By everyone.

I already mentioned the TROPHY and Phalanx designs, among others. And I said they weren't combat-approved. You can hardly call something a working PD if it never did any actual PDing. EDIT: ROFL! TRHOPY's top secret forcefield countermeasure! It's a frikken shotgun! And in the second video, it says it works against kinetic energy projectiles. Yeah it does. Minimally. It does next to nothing on them. Only effective against explosive rounds.

Start early, spread fast, invest into weaponry as soon as possible and wrest control from enemy resources that you find in the universe. Don't try to start a war with half the galaxy, and don't start something you aren't sure you can finish. The best start is with a custom civ or the Yor, maybe even the Drath, take the Industrialists for the political party, and a bonus in Social, Military production and either Weapons or Population Growth. Being evil is what conquest civilizations normally do,

Actually I'd LOVE to do my own starbases, but it would be impractical. First, the initial starbase of each type does almost nothing, and it would be cheesy to build a zomfgingly good starbase with just one constructor. Maybe if you either had to pay a whole lot of money(not too good choice here) or design every starbase individually, let's say a starbase is a no-movement starship that starts with 5 room, and every constructor that comes in after that adds 10 more room onto the starbase. But that

This was before I made Tranquility Corpus into a playable race, while I still played them as a Custom Race. TCCS means Tranquility Corpus Capital Ship, and TCFC means Tranquility Corpus Fighter Carrier. A ship of the TCCS Paragon class is renamed into TCFS Paragon for Tranquility Corpus Flagship. I'll get you those Executor shots and stats later. EDIT: Behold!

Zomfging is a... well... Wiki zomfg And no, I did not cheat. As I said before, Minimization had odd bugs that would sometimes under circumstances still unknown to me increase the size of the hull and decrease the size of the components. I had researched everything except for Technological Victory, and my Research Funding was set to 0% so I could play with the Paragon around the galaxy a bit. After loading it up in 1.2, I saw that the ship was

You mean Metal Storm? US Navy is looking into that as a form of PD. I can't imagine why, it's a rapid-fire artillery primarily. Guess they were impressed by the 1.000.000 rounds-per-minute models Other systems that might pass for a PD are Trophy and Phalanx guns, both deployed(Phalanx deployed on almost every US ship), but none have taken down a missile in flight in military operations. None, other t

IRL: Most modern tanks can be equipped with PDs. Especially the Russian ones, they are decades ahead of the West in that particular technology. When a projectile is incoming, a PD bursts, and sends a metal plate to deflect the force of the explosion, and turn the penetrator away if there is one. Aircraft anti-missile defenses are chaffs, AKA flares. Intense thermal, sonic and visual signaling that tries to steer the missile away from the target and into the chaff. Emplacement anti-mi

Well, I did stick it in a fleet with almost two dozen tiny fighters

What's that one, where humanity's cut off from Earth and looking to get back while engaged in a war with bug-like aliens? Anyway, during one of the better missions the human flagship shows up--kicks ass--it's a great moment. You mean Freespace 2? The Colossus? Heck yeah, I'm al for this! I normally even use Flagships myself, a Huge hull slightly diffe

I have found it! The TCFC Trident carrier is here! A few pictures are with equipment, a few without. Just for your viewing pleasure. And another thing I found. The TCCS Paragon, biggest and baddest ship I ever built. Remember how Minimization had a lot of bugs in version 1.0? Well, the bugs decided to really show me they love me. Just take a look at the stats. <img src="http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8404/par

That, and I sometimes need to protect my starbases(the poor things with 100 attack power are fragile), before I manage to produce Medium Defense Ships.

16 Replies 40,534 Views

My usual make-up: Tiny vessels: I never build tiny vessels. No need to do such a thing. Small vessels: Defense Ship - 1 engine, triple defense system(means three of each if agaisnt colorful enemies, if not, focus), lots of guns, does not deviate from it's designated planet's orbit Guerrilla Ship - 4 engines, single defense, great support, the rest is guns, takes out trade routes, starbases and vital enemy targets Medium vessels: Assault Ship - 2-3 engines, dual defens

Yes! 7h4nx0rz!1! Now, lemme see if I still have that game... EDIT: Just had an idea that might pose a problem. Having 20+ fighters tag-team a mega-massive super-big dreadnaught might game breaking. How difficult would it be to have each gun on a ship choose it's own target?

I had a fairly simple idea. Size 55 or something ship system. All Small and Tiny(considering to restrict it to only Tiny) ships in the same fleet as this ship share this ship's Support and Engines. I'm also considering putting in some kind of speed restriction or something. I'm all about the carriers, but wouldn't want any cargo-hull exploits like before 1.2 with cargo destroyers. What does the installing of 1.2 patch do to your designed ships if you designed them in 1.1 and use

Read the thread. This thread isn't about beating around the bush. It's about mass bush genocide. It's about nuking the bush with Black Hole Eruptors, then hitting it with Doom Rays to add insult to injury. People keep saying the same things over and over...

I want give credit for this idea to Kintor for bringing it up. And such a golden idea has been almost completely ignored. -there's been about 27 people here with great ideas for carriers. I am all for the idea(I'm one of the 27).

If you increase spending in a particular branch, it will work faster. If you focus a particular branch on a planet, it will work faster. If you increase overall spending, everything will be faster. Why is it so hard to understand?

20 Replies 24,565 Views

I tend to focus my planets. First I take a look at what the planet has and what I need. If it has farming +% tiles, I make it an influence/economy planet. Research +%? Research planet. And so on and so forth. I always first put down 4 factories, and then start on the other buildings. I never build starports on planets that I don't intend to use them on, and I normally end up with 3-4 high PQ construction planets with 250+ Military Production. My military never hurts for it, because I can churn o
