Yes, you got hit with a UP Resolution that was supposed to set the base speed of constructors. Instead it locks the speed to whatever the UP voted on. I first posted on this a couple months (3-09-06) ago, but never got a response from anyone at SD and it wasn't fixed in 1.1. No clue if they plan on fixing it. Anoter UP vote that seems whacky to me is the troop transport one. You vote on weather or not to give transports a base attack. Let's say the vote goes in favor of all trans
Hmm, actually I think they only made the "collectors edition" goodies available to the first run/shipped boxes. They said they knew when a box had been shipped and were going to let those people get the extras also. I don't know if this is still in effect. So if at all possible I'd get the collectors box if you can. I've seen collector box sets at Wal-Mart as recently as last week. Retailers had the option of ording the collector box or standard box when it was first released and
The UP meets to set the "base" speed of the ships. "Base" to me sounds like just that, base, the speed you have with a ship before addign extra engines. Not the extra speed you get from adding engines. Leaving the UP will close all your trade routes down. Only UP members can trade.
hmm, first bump didnt work, so bumping again
Adjust your spending to control waste. You can lower the overall amount you spend. And also adjust how much you spend per class, military, social and research. If you have no social projects going, cut social to zero. This will raise the financeing you spend with which you build ships and research. If this results in excess military spending on to many planets your building to many factories(etc) IMHO. I usually only have one or two heavy military planets. The rest go to populat
Shameless bump in hopes of getting an answer..
What happend was you had a UP event that set the base speed of constructors to "X" speed (X being whatever speed is voted on). For some reason this is actually setting the max speed period, irreguardless of what engines you may add. For now when it happens the best you can do just make a constructor with no extra engines. No point "paying' for more when they dont add any benifit. Usually the resolution only lasts 3 years.
Title says it all. Noticed a medal for Racial victory but not sure what it's for. Best I can figure is it's for an Influence win. But theres no medals for the other types of victories so it makes me wonder if my thinking is off.
copied from a Frogboy post here. We just released Galactic Civilizations II v1.1 yesterday and things seem to be going pretty well. It's just as well that I'm going because I've already thought of some new things for the AI that I think could make a difference in how it plays. And the engine team got my new option in -- "Allow AI to use extra CPU time" that people who are willing to wait (or have really powerful CPUs) can set the AI to use algorithms that are more time intensive.
You can find which planet has the workers by opening the "foreign stats" tab at teh botom of your screen. Then click the "United Planets" tab at the top of that window that pops up. There you will find any UP resolutions that are in effect at this time. It will list teh name of teh planet that has workers.
Minor races don't colonize, period. They will go after resources, build star bases, take a planet by force or even (this i've heard but not seen) influence. It was how they were set up I was told when I asked the same question.
Playing on tough is to easy? Set the difficulty higher. I've seen so many say " it's to easy " and then post that they play on a low level. Come on folks, crank up the difficulty. That should be a no brainer.
Well, as I understand it, Influence star bases (not to be confussed with influence resource minning bases) only effect the area thats shaded when you click on the base. They wont cause your influence to spread beyond what the base reaches. Influence buildings on planets will actually help your influence spread beyond the planet, adding to your total galactic influence. Farms = population (which will then require a morale building or two because of planet over crowding), population =
I was looking for the file that had the ships so I could delete a bunch of them. Oddly enough the file name was Ships too, heh. I found that each ship has two diffrent types of files inside the main Ship folder. But the problem is the names on one of the mini files are extremely odd and not easy to track down. While the other file name is basicly the same name as the name you picked for the ship. Is it necessary to delete both of the files for a ship to get rid of it? Will leaving one of t
Ok, It's otw.
Gah, found it, it seems i have 2 different places with different files. Is that normal? Will try to get this zipped and mailed to the right place, wish me luck, software retard here, lol.
Umm, I feel stupid, but I can't find the save files. I've looked all over my GC2 file.
Ok, I was playing a game and it crashed. A Microsoft error report window popped up also. I can start a new game just fine but if I try to load the last "autosave" it crashes seconds later but before loading. I also tried to load the "previous autosave" with the same result. I have also recently noticed a problem with the vidoes such as when a race is conqured, the little video telling that they finally succomed. The videos are now jerky where as before 1.1 I wasn't having that
Ships built on my worlds are supposed to go to a Rally Point. What some (not all) are doing is leaving the planet orbit and sitting in the first square untill i move them manually. It's odd because ship 1 will go to rally ppoint, then 2 will, but 3 will hang up, then 4 will go to rally while 3 sits there. I can wind up with tons of ships stuck there untill i move them. Its not a single ship but many. Also on the stacked ship screen many times I'll select certain ships/fleets to go
Well, this would seem to me to put a damper on invasions as well. You'd be limited on how many and how fast you can produce troops to take other planets. I guess you can use some of the invasion techniques that damage the planets and give you a boost. But I dont like to damage planets. Hmm, will also have to see how this works. But to be honest doesnt sound like something I'm going to like. It already took me forever to build up invasion forces.
Go to play my first game under 1.1 (metaverse). Low and behold it makes me reconnect to the metaverse every time if I try to get a new map. Guys this REALLY sucks. I hope it was an inadvertant addition and you can/will change it back to allowing us to just cycle through till we find a map we like.
Suicidal, 9 AI's, not playing beta's.
#1 Game crashes immediately. Happens to approximately 2.5% of users. Most common cause: Running your desktop at below 1024x768 or running your desktop in 16-bit color. This resolves 99% of users. copied from Frogboys post in the bug report forum.
Try loading the saved game on another computer. If it loads there you can at least determine it's your old lap top and not a bug in the software.
