Odd bug...

I had a problem with the previous beta (beta 4 I think) not playing nice with my video card. So this morning, I wake up to a joyous new beta, download install, run, happy happy happy, everything works.

Then I shutdown the pc, wander off and do some real world stuff, come back, and, horror of horrors, whenever I start the game, all I get is a black screen... any ideas?

The debug.err says:

Update your video driver it's 2 years old. And you should do the same for your sound card.

Hi...

Unfortunately, its one of those nasty laptop video drivers. The standard NVidia driver doesn't work, and they tell me to go to dell to get drivers from there. When I do, the latest ones I can find are 2 years old. So, as far as I can determine, I'm running the latest video/sound drivers that exist for my chipset

Try loading the saved game on another computer. If it loads there you can at least determine it's your old lap top and not a bug in the software.

You can use the Omega drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ for the Nvidia GF card.

Thanks for the driver link. It didn't seem to work What I find stange (and I was hoping someone would have some idea about) is that it all worked after updating the game and before the reboot, and that it stopped working after the reboot. I have never encountered such behaviour before....

I had odd video problems after a beta update, but a reboot solved it. Can you change you resolution settings (e.g. tune it down to 1200 x 900 or similar)?

I'm no pro, but the debug file makes it appear there is a directX issue going on somewhere. Try run -> dxdiag and run the various display tests under the display tab.

I'm not sure what you mean that it didn't work (driver or link)? www.omegadrivers.net is the link.
