Not sure how anyone can say they didnt get thier monies worth from GC2. it's practialy two programs in one. One, a turn based stratagy game. Two an extremly cool program that lets you build your own ships to play said game. I have spent literally over 3 hours just building a single ship. The average piece of crap Hollywood puts out now doesnt even last that long and cost alot more then $9.00 to go see. I paid $40.00 (plus tax)

If the AI is running around at speed 9 and your at speed 6 your gonna die most of the time, because AI will attack first. Heavy weapons, fast ships and lite defenses will usually win you the game. Keep in mind you need to attack first with a larger fleet with more powerful attack then AI has defense. AI ship hitpoints also matter to a small degree.
I'd buy a ship pack if it was big enough, double if not more then came with the Collectors edition. But one thing I dont like about the original ship builder is the lack of content for the diffrent style hulls. The diffrent race styles dont have much in the way of the bling-bling that matches the basic hull design except for the human style hulls. And if we could set our own hardpoints that would be great.
Your audio drivers are very old too. if thats the newest drivers available you might want to consdier getting a newer sound card. Doesnt have to be expensive, but any soundcard that old is most likely (w.a.g.) having some problems with newer software. You can pick up cheap soundbalster cards at on-line parts dealers or even wal-mart (yuch) for about 25 bucks.
Try "RunFirst". It's a lil free program someone made for dual cores. It fixed me up with jerky spastic video on my EQ toon. Google it, as I dont know off the top of my head where my buddy found it and I havent worked out how to quote/link on this website yet anyhoo
No, they cant be a "fleet" if they are moving at diff rates. when you make a fleet the entire fleet will only move at the best speed of the slowest ship. What you have are two fleets stacked on top of each other (most likely). Only way to do that and move them together is to count out each move based on lowest speed ship and stop the faster ship there with them. Clicking both and setting them up to travel a far distance will result in wha
Production and Research can be assisted by economic space stations. Which allows (IMHO) you to use your planets for more people and less as much for production etc. Any planet 10 or higher that doesnt have at least 1 farm and 1 morale booster is wasted tax dollars. On a 15 planet I put 2 farms and 3 morale boosters. A class 21 for me has 3 farms and 5 morale boosters and TON's of stock markets. My taxes are usually in the 50%
The battles you see in Gal Civ are nothing more then fancy dice rolls. What you see is nothing more then the results of those dice rolls. How this ship or that ship moves will have no outcome on the battle results. I also see all the shots fine so i'd have to guess those that dont have dumded down thier comps to make overall game play allowable on an older more marginal system. Myself, I've played many many hours and am to the point whe
When your factories updated to the next level they increased your miliraty output. The higher any catagory gets the more credits it takes to fund it. So when your factories upgraded it started costing you more per turn because you were producing more per turn. The upgrades make you produce more per square of the map. But it's not free, you have to pay for the extra production. It's still good to upgrade because as the game progress you
In some ways I miss the days of GC1. With popularity you have more people. And then your odd's of morons increase to the point we are seeing lately. Gta5, you are a moron. Nothing wrong with haveing trouble. But to come here and post about how Metaverse is screwed up, useing your colorful metaphors, when its nothing but your ignorance. Your parents must be proud. Ignorance is simply not knowing how to do som
Your drivers are over a year old. Is that the newest Radeon drivers there are? Check for new audio drivers too. I know theres alot of old audio drivers that are still the "current" driver, but I'd check to be sure. You also have a ton of lines with memory problems. I've not seen that type of bug report posted yet, way out of my knowledge. But theres alot of folks here with tons o know how and I'm sure they'll get ya fixed up soonish. One of the great things about Ga
Both sound and video drivers are outdated. Nvidia has new drivers from 3/9/06. Realtek also has newer drivers, I use the onboard sound (same as yours) myself.
Yar, I get that too on my 6600 thats only 4 months old. Newest drivers wont fix this as I have the 3/9 drivers and it still does it. I'm thinking it's a heat or ram issue myself. I usually save, shut down and let comp cool for an hour and fire it up again and I'm good to go for anouther 8 hours or so, heh.
I've commented on the messed up mil rateing myself in the past. I've come to the conclusion that custom ships arent getting full credit for thier power. I can offer no proof of this other then the fact that I never build canned ships. After my first game I even quit useing the constructors and transports. I can blow away fleet after fleet after fleet and still have the lowest military rateing out of 10 races (I play with 9 AI's). Not sure if is thi
Yup, I posted on this long time ago. Never got a peep about it from a dev etc. So no clue if they gonna fix it or not.
Ok, is what your saying is that they can kill the teeny tiny freighters. But that wont kill the route itself? Just makes the teeny tiny freighter start over?
Ok, I attack a frieghter of a AI that has the Gal Priviteer wonder, I get messgae saying I cant do that. I use one of my precious few squares (huge map, rare stars, rare habitable planets) to build the damn thing and along comes those b*st*rd Drengen blowing the hell outta my trade fleet. WTF MATE! FIRE ZE MISSLES!
You cant beat tiny hulls for home defense. Backed up by one or more star base's a fleet of tiny's will devoure anything in it's path. One thing you have to remeber about fleet size is however many ships you have, thats how many shots you get. If you've managed to cram enough power in, and you attack, you can wipe out smaller fleets of larger ships.. Your offensive rateing vs thier defensive rateing, and pray for good dice rolls <img src
It's called exploiting. If you really cant see that and wish to leave, fine by me. Scores are meant for games "played". Not games where you just punch a key over and over without any thought into what your doing rather then punching the key. I for one am glad they removed your score and hope they nail any other blatant explots. Taa taa.
I first started playing normal games, about 7 games, and had maybe 2 crashes during that time. I recently started playing Metaverse games and my crashes have gone WAY up. Below is my err file log, if anyone see's anything plz let me know. Debug Message: Version v1.0X.2 last updated on: Tue Mar 7 15:02:59 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System In
MInddweller, make sure your dual core drivers are up to date. You can find them on AMD's website. If that doesnt fix it get RunFirst and install it. Not sure where you'd find runfirst but i'm sure you can goggle it, it's a lil free program. A buddy of mine figured out thats what was messing mine up. As I had RunFirst already installed when i loaded GC2 I cant say this will fix spinning planets. But I've never had that particular problem. But I also had updated cpu drivers when I installed
Your Audio drivers are over 2 years old. Yes audio can crash games. Also do you have the dual-core drivers updated? I have a 3800 x2 myself, and it was pure hell getting it going at first with my games when I built back in Dec. Had to d/l a lil program called RunFirst to get alot of stuff to run on it.
It's based on averagre rateing. If for example the difficulty levels were numbered instead of named it would be alot easier to figure out what your avg was. So, number every name applied to the diff lvl's and then do teh math, you'll be able to see what your avg is that way. Now this is based purely on my understanding of what i've seen posted etc before. So if any want to dispute me i wont care, heh. I have 3 ranked games myself, 1 crip
Yes, I know you can give tons of crap to the minor's. I'm talking about them doing it on thier own though. I play Suicidal huge (2nd largest, whatever its called) universe games now. Many times minors will die before I even see them though in such large maps. I like long games. Not unusual for my games to last over 20 years.
In the next patch, 1.1 (not beta), are we going to be able to set the intel levels on the minor AI's? I'd love to be able to set minor race AI intel level's. It would make the game alot more harder imho. I don't think the minor's do anything but add free realestate to whoever can get them first. Myself I'd like to see them be alot more denfensive instead of the passive wimps they are now. I'm not saying make them into major's. But act
