Hi there. I have a bit of a Metaverse/Website problem here. I registered the empire "Gold Wing" - worked I joined up one of my characters - worked I tried to upload the empire logo (128x128, JPG) - FAIL On the webpage, the Edit Empire and Invite Player buttons work fine. Entering the path to the logo as well as "search" works, too. Only Upload Logo is inactive. Th

Magic Carpet 2. I still play that one occasionally and it still rocks the socks off of many "modern" games. What could be more stylish than surfing through the air on a... magic carpet? You can modify and play with the terrain like in no other game. Create a volvano inside the enemy castle, then toss a gravity well on it so all the lave doesn't flow out of the castle but... into it! Burn^2! You can even download it as abandonware nowadays... <p
X3: Terran Conflict. Im probably modding it more than I'm playing it but it's the thought that counts. =) Simply the prettiest starship flying game around and moddable (and already modded) beyond recognition. Practically nothing is off-limits for modders. There are new weapons, ships, stations... whole new universes. And it's the only game where you have a freedom comparable to GalCiv. No other game has the same vertical depth. Trucking around in a trader, min
And thanks for creating a membership card, hehe.
I was thinking of including the DL/DA logos but it appears those are the same? (Drengin) GC1 I think used the terran race logo but it's been a while... It doesn't look quite right with just the TA watermark.

You can turn off the Autosave (at least in TA) but it's not the only way to hit the memoy barrier. And you can not turn off the game wanting to create an EndGame save when you "win". If you can not save at that point, the game crashes. Period. My workaround is not the only beatifying truth. It's merely one thing to keep in mind and maybe for the Stardock coders to look into. Clearly some memory is not being released after use here and
I wouldn't call myself a casual player. I played Everquest for about 7 years, 5 of those in one of the highest end raid guilds there are, playing up to 5 characters simultaneously (without macro software!), and had almost 4 years of playtime logged on the main account. Normal? Sensible? Nawwwww. Powergamer it is. (or certain latin terms come to mind...) I just don't think I'll play GalCiv anywhere as seriously as that. =) Besides, I'm usuall
Okay, since the Jack said it's okay to make a show of it... =) And for those who want a club card, too: http://img5.
In my last game I hit a brick wall. At a certain point I was no longer able to save the game. That in itself caused no hard crash but simply aborted saving. Well, no problem, right? Just complete the game... Problem. When the game "completes" it tries to create an "End Game" save. That was no longer possible in my game and at that point the game did crash hard. So whatever I did, I was not possible to complete the game and get a nice score to
Laser tech: Adds starbase module: Laser Equalizer Phasors tech: Adds starbase module: Hyper-Phasors Problem: The Laser tech is not part of the Yor tech tree. The Yor can research the Hyper-Phasors but can not put them on their starbases because Hyper-Phasors can only be added after the starbase alread
Thanks but I had already done that. What did work to speed up the turn time, however, was a combination of the waypoint systems from posts 4 and 6. Single ships would travel shorter distances. Then the formed up collector fleets were sent to the MSBA. That cut at least 2/3 off the time required for the "autopilot movement" phase. In my last game I hit massive out-of-memory problems, though, but I found a workaround. The
Another interesting point: Just to see what happens I built ships with 400 components each. At around 1600 ships built the game crashed with an Out Of Memory error during the build phase. There was no movement involved at all. So apparently, every single component of every ship is getting dragged along through the entire game and ships should be built with a minimum of fluff.
There are differences in DL vs DA vs TA in this regard but what I did in DL was to rush buy a ship at pretty much every planet that I own but leave it next to the planet that built it. I did this by setting a colony rally point at every planet just to get the ships autolaunched but then each turn I would kill the autopilot destination using the governor. Then every 7 or 8 turns dependent on my logistics I would go around to each planet
Awell. I already restarted because that was getting silly. T'was a 600+ k score so I was definitely on the right track but the final crash was probably too much because it wouldn't submit. Maybe next time. Restarting is no big deal to me. It's just a game and I'm not getting paid for completed games. So what? =) Fewer things is bad juju, though. I'm a builder. I'm not building all these pretty ships just to send them into a war! That's a hor
Alright, so I'm playing a gigantic map, trying to get a "decent" score. For no particular reason. So... how do you do this? I have now built a 24 station mil starbase array and I am sending tiny "fighter" hulls to that location so that their equally tiny attack/defense values may be boosted to unstoppable-juggernaut-of-doom levels. The problem: With 375 colonies and most of them building ships... there's so damn many of them. After construction
Well, on a related topic:
A little red skull and crossbones icon appears to the left of the game on your character's page.
Arrrr matey! I want a Jolly Rogers, too! Alas, I apparently fail at this "cheating and getting caught" thing because I haven't succeeded, yet. And I'm not good enough to win by turn 12 which would automatically award me the cheater flag. Looks like I'll have to find a mod tha
Aww shoot! There goes my illusion of a "best way" to get a high score. =P I was just curious about the SCC. Even if the effect stacks with starbases it only affects 10 ships anyway which isn't on the same scale as a 1500 pt bonus to an unlimited number of ships in "the" square. I am, however, positively in awe of those who achieved huge scores. (which includes you =)) That takes a lot of knowledge and the skill to use it. And a boatload ot perseveranc
Maybe I'm having a duh moment but all that doesn't seem to answer if the SCC actually stacks with a Mil SBA. Only that they use different systems which is already pretty obvious from their module/tech description. Oh, it's probably not going to matter for my game scores for a long time but vanity demands more sacrifices of play time! I only took a look at the high scores and umm... 1.3 mil, 1.4 mil... ooooookay. Not quite there, yet. =P
Twilight of Arnor v2.02.030 There is a reproducable bug with surveying. It happens when a survey vessel hits an anomaly off screen. That means, when the ship operates in hyperspeed mode, zipping to the destination instead of actually "playing out" the movement. When a survey vessel then hits a research anomaly (add 25% to currently researched tech), the research points are not added. This is not just a display issue. The research bar does not update on the next
For DA, replace the first line with: #ifwinactive, ahk_class GalCiv2
For me it's "I, Mudd".
When I wanted to preserve a minor race (for a trading partner) I gave them a whole planet in a relatively safe spot in my own backyard. When playing huge and/or abundant games, planets aren't in short supply and this way I can set up planets to trade with wherever I want. They don't expand from this position so they are nice and obedient trading partners. Or if you are more evilly inclined... colonize new planets and immediately give them to a minor race. You don't have
I'm not sure if this qualifies for a bug - it's just funny AI behaviour in a rare case. If you attack an AI player VERY soon he will switch to producing Defender units on his planets. He also does that when he has NO weapon or armor tech whatsoever so he's burning resources on 0/0 ships that serve no purpose whatsoever and will be destroyed every turn. SOME defense. =P Granted, by the time you could possibly have a troop transport over his planet he WILL have
In the colony management screen, the list of available projects can be scrolled with the mouse wheel ONLY if an empty square is highlighted on the planet surface. So when trying to upgrade an existing building, mouse wheel is disabled for that.
Ok, bad wording on that. If you click on an empty OR built up tile this works perfectly fine. However, if you click the entry in the build queue, this also targets the square on the planet surface but in this cas
