Basically you would have a governor do that. You would say "All tiles that have X should upgrade to Y".
Frogboy
rectX so some video drivers may have issues).
Half the team has the flu which isn't a good thing. We didn't even see each other over the holidays and we still got sick! But while I'm busy spreading my plague around the office, we're still moving forward. January 17 is a big internal date for us because I'll be flying to San Fran the following week to show the Alpha to Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, Gamespot, etc. Hopefully they'll be impressed. The parts of the game we'll be showing off are: <LI
I think the mountains need to be a bit more clear. I.e. see actual peaks or something but I'm visually impaired.
>Unlike in GalCiv 1, you will be able to lay off workers if you are not building things on the planet. But those workers become unemployed which affects morale.
Galactic Civilizations II will introduce the concept of food into its planets. Now before you give your views on this, please bear in mind that we'll have months of play-testing and beta testing to make sure we get the mechanics down pat. Starbases and constructors in GalCiv 1 weren't added in until 3 months before release - the whole concept came from beta testers. So much may change. Anyway... A given planet may have 8 to 10 usable tiles. These tiles can be use
ss 8 to 10 instead of 15 through 17.
Yes. Based on owner.
ver time, its advantage will show up in the fact that you'll be able to do a lot more on it.
Sandbox mode will still be there and be the primary way you play the game. The difference is that this time there will be a campaign as part of the base game too.
Oh most of the graphics in the game presently are just stand ins we whipped up. The art coming in is astoundingly nice.
oaded from the metaverse.
sed on player feedback as we go through the beta.
We also haven't shown a screenshot of the new tactical mode. If you zoom out, the planets morph into a cool wireframe tactical mode.
Lots of questions there. I can say we will allow for refitting on the fly. It'll cost $$$ but it'll be allowed. But it will only work on sihps that are within your territory.
Okay, so who is here. Sign in! Frogboy here! Lead designer of the game. Principle AI programmer.
The Drath ally themselves with the Drengin in the civil war that is the basis of Galactic Civilizations II.
want to make. If you want to play a game where the planets are that complex, get Space Empires V.
version of the tactical map. If you zoom out enough, the nice pretty planets morph into a tactical map.
I agree with you Paul. We'd have to put forward a very straight forward mechanism that people could understand though. You want new users to understand why things happen.
There aren't any plans to move extra food between planets. Not in the initial release but yea, it's something we would like to address in a future expansion or something.
We will have a lot of new cut scenes in the game. Don't worry about that! Actually the music may be one of the bigger treats. It's awesome!
I suspect GalCiv II's gigantic galaxy will be roughly the same size. It will ultimately depend on performance though.
Well in Altarian Prophecy the AI was much more inclined to trade if you were allies.
GalCiv 2, we want to do much more on this.
