Most of these have probably already been fixed, but here goes:
- When I click on the last "next" in "new game" (when it starts creating the universe), I get six (6) click sounds.
- Minor races which have been eliminated are phantomed in the diplomatic pages. There is an icon (the "unknown" icon) for the race, but clicking on it goes back to the first minor race. Loading a game eliminates these phantoms.
- Minor races begin with all techs known by anyone. Although not a bug, per se, this feels unfair for techs known only to me (and the race is spontaneously created, as opposed to a spin-off of mine). Perhaps only techs known by more than 25% of the races, or some sort of tech balancing based on the knowledge of all the races?
- Minor races that appear throughout the game are given the "unknown" icon and a blank picture. Minor races that exist at the beginning are given nice icon/pictures.
- Double-clicking in negotiation screen (bargaining?) is interpreted as triple click. For example, if I want to put my first two techs on the table, if I click quickly, three techs are put on.
- The red/green display of whether or not the AI will accept the agreement is sometimes broken. It displays red (correctly). I consider putting money on my side, stays red. If I increase money, it goes to green. However, if I click "OK", it reverts to red. Red is correct. It is unclear why it is green. Might be able to construct a reproducible case, if that's useful.
- Have gotten one planet that had no colony base, and thus no production. It was created by colony ship normally, so that was a surprise. It could not build anything, and way therefore fairly useless. Only seen once, cannot repro, no saved game (dummy me).
UI complaints:
- Finding a ship that has been built is difficult. It would be more useful, to me at least, if clicking on the blue "ship created" icon that falls down moves display to the planet that created the ship, rather than pulling up the list of ships I can create from the planet.
- Navigating the technology system is MUCH better, but still painful. The sort order is non-intuitive. It is roughly increasing time, but not always (even disregarding cases where I have partial research). Sorting by time remaining (taking into account partial research) would be reasonable and understandable.
- Controlling planet building is still fairly painful. Right now, when you click on a blank square, the list returns to the top. If the list does not change (much), it would be nice to stay at the same location, so I can more easily direct the colony to build multiple factories or multiple research buildings with fewer clicks. Some sort of distinction between "normal buildings" and one-time (either per race or per galaxy) buildings may also be useful. As a possible alternative, maybe always put factory, farm, and research at top (don't like that as much right now, but those are the buildings I most commonly build multiple of)?
- For some reason, clicking at the very bottom of the screen pulls up research screen.
- The cursor for ship names appears a line down and all the way to the right if I click on the first letter. If I click on a later letter, I get no cursor (suspect these are related).
- Taking over a planet should reset its propaganda spending and ship production.
- Would really like propaganda spending moved to main planet screen. As is, too painful to control for a civilization of any size.
- Maintenance cost in spacedock screen (both pop-up and full screen, where you can build ship) is always listed as 0. To find real maintenance, you must double click on a built ship.
- Clicking "cancel" on a colony build still goes to colony.
- Loading a game forcuses you through start-up sequence of story-line popup of some kind, then research, then a colony (unclear how it chooses which one to display).
- An option to display unclaimed galactic resources in the minimap would be somewhat useful in the early-middle part of the game. However, given how busy the options for the minimap are already, it may not be worth it.
- For captured colonies, some sort of "schedule upgrades" button that scheduled upgrades for all buildings not already scheduled to be replaced by something else would be helpful. Similary, if not the same, button for habitats/terraforming.
- Time for replacing a building is often wrong for captured colonies.
Sorry for duplicates. I excluded things I knew were already mentioned (e.g., building a top-of-the-line factory on a new planet takes forever), but I'm sure at least one of these has been mentioned.
If I can help with any of these issues, let me know. dxdiag info from debug.err:
