Sorry if this has been discussed a dozen times already but there are three areas I hope will be improved in the new AI.
First; it was easy to fool the original AI into not attacking by building a large "paper" Navy of ships that were really useless. I haven't played GC II enough to tell if this is still a viable ruse. Not sure how to fix this other than adjusting how the AI calculates if a player really has a Navy that is a threat or not.
Second; the AI had a tendency at some point to start cranking out a ton of small ships and sending them into combat in a stream. The ability to create fleets may help correct this if the AI uses them effectively. However with the current build I have already seen somewhat similar behavior with the AI sending individual troop transports at me which are easy targets by even a small ship with one attack weapon. Transports should probably have at least one ship as part of a fleet escort.
Third; can the AI be made smart enough to use waypoints to vary their attack vectors? Once I see an enemy ship approaching on a certain path it seems guarantedd that the AI will use the same route again and again. That makes it easy to station my reception committee.
