I managed to play a few GC2 games over the weekend and here are
the issues that I found:
1. When a planet is conquered a ship will be under construction
at the planetary shipyard with 4294967295 turns remaining for
completion.
2. Conquered races don't vanish from the diplomacy screen. They
are still on the screen with an "At War" status. I didn't try to
actually talk with the dead race.
3. Victory by conquest popup shows "%s" instead of the race name.
4. Scroll buttons for setting the game difficulty, in the setup
screen, allow the difficulty to wrap around when using the left
scroll arrow but not when using the right scroll arrow.
5. Custom race statistics would sometimes mysteriously vanish
between games. The racial ability, technology, and ship selections
would vanish.
6. Game crash on start of galaxy generation (files sent to Scott)
7. Only Terrans have "Racial Abilities" visible on the screen
where you choose your race.
8. Allow a filter on the ship components list "show me only the
most advanced of each component type". The lists become over-long
once any appreciable level of technology has been researched.
9. The game started creating zero-byte saves. Once this started
it kept happening and whenever it created a zero-byte save the game
would crash. (files sent to Scott)
10. When playing in windowed mode the game is _very_ picky about
where the tip of the mouse pointer must be before being recognized.
The problem goes away if playing in full-screen mode.
11. The technology screen _really_ needs a redesign. The amount
of side-scrolling required is excessive.
12. In one game the "Turn" button vanished and wouldn't come back
no matter what I did. I had to restore from an saved game to
continue.
13. Are events hooked up yet? They didn't seem to generate any
change in the game other than the initial screen where you have
to make a choice between the good, neutral, evil route.
14. Can't select the "nothing" choice from within the shipyard
screen. It can only be selected from the ship/planet list view
popup screen.
15. On the planet management screen the "Next" and "Previous"
buttons don't work yet.
That's it for now. This is a big improvement over Beta 1. I
wasn't able to complete a game under Beta 1. I like the UI changes
for the main screen.
