Is find supposed to go to a ship that is on autopilot?

I am finding it increasingly strange that the find button selects a ship on autopilot when there are no ships with moves left except those on autopilot. GC1 did not do this, and I know I for one am more comfortable with the GC1 behavior. So the question is, is this an error in the code, or is this a planned change in behavior?

(For those who never played GalCiv1, if the only ships with moves left were all on autopilot, the find button would not select a ship.)

On further examination it appears this happens only when you have a planet selected. If you left click on empty space (which deselects eerything) the find key does nothing. Also, if you have more than two ships on autopilot and have a planet selected, the find key will first find one of the ships on autopilot, then does nothing if clicked again.

On Beta 2, this still happens.

IMO, the find button should find only ships that have moves left that are not in manual mode (at least, I can't think of any ship in any other mode I would want it to find).

I just found a slight deviation in the description of this problem. Another time it will find a ship on auto pilot is the first time you press "find" after a completion of end of turn where no ships are on manual. Even if a planet is not selected.

Another pattern is beginning to emerge on this problem. It only happens if all of your ships are in an automatic function (auto pilot, auto survey, etc.).

Another pattern that seems to be developing is the ship that is being selected when it shouldn't be. It is the last ship put into an automatic function.

Something else with this problem. If you have all but one ship (I only have 4 at the moment) on auto pilot, if you deselect the ship on manual without having moved it (mine has 6 moves left), then find will not find it. It finds no ships at all. I have to select the ship on manual in order to move it if I have deselected it.

With at least two of many ships on manual the find button works ok.

I've added this to the bug database and I'll look into it when I get a chance.

Here is another symptom to add to this bug (or maybe a new one) for when you get to it.

If you have a ship (A) arrive at its destination and another ship (B) with move points left that you have been just leaving in place, if you put ship A into guard status, then start pressing the find key. It will switch back and forth between the two ships until you change the status of ship B.

Another symptom - When you deselect a ship by left clicking on empty space, it is not really deselected. The data for the ship dissappears from the bottom of the screen but the selection ring stays around the ship. Then, if this is the only ship with moves left and not in a state other than manual the find button is unable to find the ship.
