Just happened to be thinking of an interesting way to give each of the races in the game a bit more personailty. The general idea is this- each race is given a selection of 3 evolutionary traits that their species have gained. These traits are much like starting technologies but each gives a little background/personality to each character. Examples include-
Night Vision-Sensors +1, Improved brainpower- Research +5, Wings- Luck +5, Reptilian Scales- Soldiering +5, Claws- Soldiering +5, Art Appreciation- Economy +5, A-Sexual Reproduction- Population +5
Well, you get the idea. From what I can tell, this shouldn't be too hard of a system to mod into Galactic Civ II, and I would love some hints/tips on how this could be easily done. Furthermore, if this idea were to be implemented into Gal Civ III, there would be HUGE opportunities to give each race its personality...imagine, each race chooses 3 traits which become represented in the character portrait...Drengin with wings and glowing eyes....Humans with claws and scales...each game would have a new unique look and feel to it.
Well, that's my input. Tell me what you guys think of the idea- Is it reasonable? Can it be made balanced? What are some good evolutionary traits to add?
Thanks,
