Designing a starbase

So here I am re-installing the game and her expansions now that the new patch is out.  I'm thinking up ship ideas in my head and thought about the fun of making my own starbases.  I know that it can't be done normally, but I also remember Kyro posting a work around for this.  I've been searching and found this....

"Starbases cannot be designed directly through the game, however if you design a ship then find and copy the shipcfg file for that design over one of the starbase shipcfg files in Data\ShipCfg, it will make that starbase type/level look like that design. Note that this only applies to the appearance, you cannot make a starbase have the function of the parts you put on that design (weapons/defenses/etc)."

Yes, that is Kyro's work around, but I'm confused.  I looked in the Data\ShipCfg folder and seen 6 differant starbase shipcfg files.  I'm guessing that each one is a differant shipset, but how do I know which one is for which shipset?  Kyro, would you mind expanding on this alittle for me.  I've ofcourse got both expansions, if that makes any differance.  Thanks!

All the starbase shipcfgs are part of the S0 shipstyle and work for all races. For example S0_CultureStarbase0 is the first stage for a culture base. Also, if you want to play TA with your modified design, you will need to put your new files in the TA Data/ShipCfg folder. Hope this helps.

There should be one for each type of starbase, and for each level of development.

Ok to further simplify this you need to go in to the following to find the starbase files: -

C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Data\ShipCfg

All the starbase designs were changed for DA so TA calls for them from there. You should be able to put your new ones into the TA folder though or even the folder in my docs, as long as you remember that you would need to put them into the folder \Data\ShipCfg,  which you would need to create for this.

The files to be altered/replaced by your designs are: -

Resource Starbase

S0_ResourceStarbase0

S0_ResourceStarbase1

S0_ResourceStarbase2

S0_ResourceStarbase3

S0_ResourceStarbase4

Culture Starbase

S0_CultureStarbase0

S0_CultureStarbase1

S0_CultureStarbase2

S0_CultureStarbase3

S0_CultureStarbase4

Economy Starbase

S0_EconomyStarbase0

S0_EconomyStarbase1

S0_EconomyStarbase2

S0_EconomyStarbase3

S0_EconomyStarbase4

Military Starbase

S0_MilitaryStarbase0

S0_MilitaryStarbase1

S0_MilitaryStarbase2

S0_MilitaryStarbase3

S0_MilitaryStarbase4

All you really need to do is remember what you call each section of the new design so you can easily find it later on :)

Hope that helps!
