Can we please do something else with the Iconians?

The bonuses for the Iconians make no sense.  Why are they +50 espionage?  The Krynn are spies, not these guys.  Frankly, in addition to not making sense for this race, +50 espionage is totally useless.  I'm happy to get my espionage bonuses from anomalies.  Please redo their bonuses with something a little more in character.  They get fewer optional points than anyone else, so they're very hard to customize.

  The 'Super Adapter' ability can either be okay, or useless, depending on what size map you're on.  Along with it being a total crapshoot as to whether or not you get any planets that the ability is good for, both types are also easily accessible to other races.  No-one now can do radioactive worlds, so why not at least drop aquatic or toxic and replace them?

I played as the Iconians last weekend and the only real problem I had was my early economy. You could always play a custom race with the Iconian tech tree.

On your second point, I suggested last year when DA came out that the way Super Adapters should work is reduce the research time on your first two Extreme Colonization techs to 1wk. That way, you're not left scratching your head when all you have around are Toxic and Barren worlds.

Other than the weak super ability, Iconians are one of my favourite races. I'm so very bored of most of the other races with their slightly different versions of the factories/banks improvements. I like the Yor for this reason as well. Super Adapter really does need some buffing though. It's more of a "Mediocre Adapter" right now.

I love the Iconians, too. Due to all their unique buildings, they are one of the few races who can make a PQ 5 valuable. I enjoy playing them, it's just frustrating being hamstrung by a lot of their points being placed in a useless bonus that doesn't fit their history. Drop the espionage, and give them something else, or just give them a few more optional points.

Instead of just saying "drop the espionage and give them something else", perhaps we should talk about what would make sense to replace it with? There is a huge difference between 'criticism' and 'constructive criticism'.

How about a bonus to PQ? They are super adapters correct? Why couldn't they then possibly be able to squeeze out at least 1 more PQ from each world they colonize?

As for a change in their super ability? I think it is fine as is. Yes, it is a crapshoot and yes it isn't as good on certain map sizes, but other race's super abilities vary in usefulness on different map setups too.

How about the ability to conquer enemy planets intact? I mean when you capture a planet all improvements are destroyed for which you don't have the right technology. For the super adapters this shouldn't matter, they should be able to make some use of the buildings anyway.

I think trading off Espionage for a +10%PQ ability would be definitely make the Iconians much more of competitive choice.
