What I'm about to comment on is not a major issue, but it's been an annoyance (albeit minor), since the game was released.
In the foreign relations screen, there is a section which gives the stats of the various races in the game. They all have their separate tabs, and it is easy to switch back and forth between them in order to check their relative strengths and weaknesses in various areas. It is a very nice design, simple and intuitive...but where's *my* tab? I think that there should be another tab added: one for my race, whatever it may be, and I'll explain why.
While it may be simple to check the stats of the foreign races against one another, I am most often interested in comparing my stats to one or more of the other civs. This is where things get clumsy and time-consuming.
When I want to compare my civ with another, first I go into the foreign relations screen, then the stats screen, find the civ in question, scroll down to find the particular stat that I am interested in, and note the info. Then, I have to go into my own screen, into the stats, scroll down the list, and compare my numbers against theirs. If I want to know more about how we stack up, then I have to repeat this process, often multiple times. This is just for one race. Checking multiple stats against multiple races can be a bit of a hardship.
I believe that it would be faster and easier if I had a tab next to the other races, so that I could quickly and easily check my stats against theirs. Also, the lists reset themselves to the top whenever a tab/screen is changed. It would also be nice if they didn't do this, and stay where I place them, so that I could go back and forth, comparing one particular stat against all the other races', but I would gladly concede this point in order to just get myself placed with the others.
I grant you that this is not of the highest priority as far as upgrades/updates are concerned, but it would streamline this function considerably, and may actually improve the play of a number of people. How many times have we seen the post asking something like, 'My ships are stronger than theirs, why do I always lose the battle?' Well, check the stats; if they have a 30% weapons bonus, a 23% defense bonus, and a 50% luck bonus, and you do not, there's the answer.
In TA, espionage is about to become much more important than it has been in DA. Spies will be able to gather intel in more ways, and not just as a secondary function to their destructive abilities; this is why I am posting this now.
Has anyone else noticed the things I am talking about, and do you even care? Since I don't remember anyone else posting about this topic, I may already have my answer, but I would still like to hear your opinions. Cheers.
