this did not happen until my current game, although this is my first non-cakewalk game so the first game the AI is actually doing anything. sometimes when I hit the "turn" button the AI will make a couple moves then just stop and do nothing but the turn button is still blacked out. i still have mouse control and oddly can access info screens etc just obviously none of my units can move since they have 0 move left (actually, sometimes this has gotten so bad the left mouse ceases working too). generally I can still save the game and restart it. i did notice sometimes when it reloads i get a new planet kicked over from influence. i am at a stage in the game where this is hapening a lot (first one of the ai races now more to my side).
let me know what info to provide if any, not sure what dump could be useful for this?
the game is kewel... the ai ('tough' right now, playing the Torians) is challenging enough to be dangerous and have some tension but not overwhelming. unfortunately its military strategy, or maybe tactics, is somewhat poor at least at this level (and i kind of favor the idea of playing a really smart AI with no inherent bonuses to any side). albeit with some (slight) tech advantage i managed to build about 4 50hp ships and completely eliminate the 200-ship mostly-defender navy (at first they came out to play but then they sat in orbit after a while and without being in fleets I just ate up movement points picking them off one by one) of the Iconians who owned 2/3 of the map at that point. some of my 50hp ships got to be 100hp ships from experience... did not know that could happen! now i notice the Iconians, at peace, are building battleships albeit weak ones but that will prove tougher next time a war is provoked. one real tense moment in a battle against a large 10+ ship Terran fleet with I forget but maybe 150 or so HP which one of my ships won, but the Terrans are no longer a threat at all (one world chased into a corner of the map and the Drengins are after them in a big way). I learned a lot about the game economics now rather than building every improvement in sight and that helps a lot.
