Yor Economics

?

Hello everyone. I just started playing the beta 4 or TA. I started a game as the Yor (my favorite race) and noticed that they have no planetary improvements that increase economics on a given planet. It seems to me that this is a huge disadvantage for the Yor in the games economic module. I just started playing the beta, so this could be completely untrue, but I just wondered if I should keep playing or I will get owned by civilization as can produce alot more money (and thus research and Production) than the Yor (Which would be everyone assuming the other races to have buildings that increase economics). Also if there is a map of the new techs/planetary improvements could someone post a link so I don't have to ask nooby questions like this.

Check out the Efficiency line of improvements. It's a one-per-planet improvement that does boost economy.

They are lacking in some economic ability, though. You really should go evil and build a mind control center somewhere wealthy.

blah, i've never like the economic system in GC. Ok is there any thing I can do about this?

* Mod the Yor tech tree

Someone's working on modding the tech tree. The thread is probably in the modding subforum.

Oh, also, post what problems you're having with it, and there's a chance it'll get balanced so economics aren't so painful for Yor.

I played an immense galaxy with the Yor recently and didn't have a problem on tough difficulty. Efficiency III gives you the one per planet building econ building. Efficiency studies itself gives +10% global each time. The second research in the red line (stellar fortification) gives you a +10 econ +20 pop growth building, which is also one per planet.

My early planets had both and I tried to get 4 charging stalks (food).

Im thinking what they want you to do with the Yor is put alot of thouse charging stalks on planets you would normaly have dect out with econ bonuse buildings. That way youll have a large population (thus larger tax base), but you would have moral under control because of the charging stalks also give a substantial moral bonus.

The Yor have problems. In terms of economic structures, they only have their one-per-planet maintaince grids, one-per-planet efficiency centers, and an unlimited supply of charging stalks. Also don't forget about the recruiting centers that almost every race gets, its a must have for the Yor.

As for the efficiency techs, if you were to research all government techs, and some of the economy techs as the Terrans, you would get the same bonuses for researching the efficiency techs as the Yor. The government techs give you a better form of government (which in its most advanced form is +30% economy), and the economy techs gives you a +15% economy (+10% from "Xeno Economics" and +5% from "Xeno Bank Construction"). The bonuses you gain from the efficiency techs is equal to the bonuses you lost.

Since the recent nerfing, the Yor's collectives are now better than the default industry. They have less maintaince, and they have better industrial output. The only down side is, they take longer to build. An "Industrial Sector" has a build cost of 400, and the "Ultimate Collective" has a build cost of 500.

So If I trade for the government techs and the econ building techs (Banks and the such) I should be ok?

I play with tech trading off, so i would say you don't need anything from the other races...

The efficiency tech line is a must for the Yor. I didn't have any problems playing Yor on Tough level, as long as I included that line fairly early. I had tech trading turned on, but didn't bother trying to pick up any additional government or econ techs from other races. I wouldn't say that's a "must have" unless you're playing one of the highest difficulty levels, where you're artificially crippled compared to the other races in economic output.

No i didn't. Loaded the save and added it to a planet and my taxes went from 9k to 13k

LoL, I can't make it to there. Guess I'll have to play some lower difficulty levels to get used to the new economic module (untile they hopefully change back ship maintainance.

What I do is a colony rush first. Set spending slider to 100% Then once you have colonized enough planets, your economy should be around -100 bc per turn. At that point, I focus all of my economy into the efficiency line. Once I get to the efficiency center, I put one on every planet and set the social slider to 100%. YOu should have a low trasury, but it will improve with time.

What you really have to worry about is the Thalan economy. They suck at the colony rush.

See I just tried a colony rush, and went bankrupt before they started making money (or even paying for themselves for that maner). I think a problem is that the Yor only start with 3000bc (maybe all do, not too sure). blah, this is annoying It gets to where I can't build anything because 2 colony ships cost 40bc a turn in maintenance....f-that.

Everyone starts at 3000 BC.

I'm looking forward to more economy tweaking for individual races and the game as a whole, especially if we're supposed to have more liquid income as has been stated.

If that goal has been changed, I hope that gets stated soon.

Guess I am one of the few who actually thought the Yor had it too nice the way they are now... at least I always managde to make more money with the Yor in early game then with any of the other races but of course this is a matter of play style.
But overall I like it the way it is, since it also helps make you feel more as the isolationalist race that way.

I think they have it good too as well, their charging stalks are two in one buildings (pop + morale) and the efficiency centre and techs make up for no other buildings i think. As well as making invasion a lot harder. Just two charging stalks and maybe a recruitment center and you can form a decent defence along with Yor soldiering if youve researched enough. My opinion anyway.
