As civilization-specific tech-trees were introduced in Galciv2:TA, civilization-specific (or "tech-tree-specific"?) Galactic Achievements and Super Projects were also introduced.
As far as I know, only one of each Galactic Achievement can exist in one game normally, but there can be multiple identical Super Project, as long as they were built by different civilizations. (like Hyperion Shrinker, Economic Capital.. they can be built only once as long as the civilization has the tech to build one and has yet capture one from somebody else with planetary invasion).
However, there is something that bothers me. Actually, I shouldn't be pointing out all these, because some of my points were from unfinished part of Galciv2:TA - I just thought that they might be important and should not be ignored.
1.
Thalan starts with three Galactic Achievements.. Arcean, Altarian, Torian each starts with one. Well, normally, no civilizations in one game will share some of those "unique" history or civilization-specific improvements, so the improvements being "Galactic Achievements" don't really matter (I think), but what if a custom race shares the same tech-tree as the Thalan? I've tried it (sorry again for trying out and commenting on the part that hasn't been released), and the result was that Thalan and my "custom Thalan" rush buying the starting Galactic Achievements - I bet the "true" Thalan will end up as merely whining bugs if their "Powerful Starting Galactic Achievements" were rush-bought by some loser custom civilization like mine... As a result, I think all of those civilization-specific (or tech-tree-specific, rather) "Galactic Achievements" should be changed to "Super Projects" (just like the Terran Innovative Complex).. otherwise, any custom race sharing the same improvement will ruin the civilization-specific advantage or be ruined themselves if they fail to ruin their originals.
2.
Most of time when I play Galciv2, I tend to save those super Project (usually the capitals and perhaps a must for Hyperion Shipyard) after finding a planet that suits the situation and strategy the best. Yet, I've noticed that I will not be able to build one particular Super Project again if I have captured one through planetary invasion before I even build it - was this intentionally designed in the game? (Being honest, I personally find this very disturbing.) I think every player should have their chance to construct their only-once Super Project - regardless whether they have captured an identical one or not. (I wonder if this was identified as an imperfection and corrected yet?)
3.
The "default tech-tree" no longer exists.. instead the "default tech-tree" now is a tech-tree that includes all techs as mentioned by the team... (well, actually only mostly.. I think - I don't see "Organic Hulls" in the default tech-tree...) As far as I noticed, those "minor races" now have "the no-longer-default default tech-tree".. and any one of them can technically knock-out any "major race" so badly if they choose to go hard on them.. I tried a custom civilization with the "default tech-tree" (sorry about that again), and I think it is way too powerful when facing any civilization-specific tech-tree. (I got the feeling that this "default tech-tree" will be disabled before commercial release for custom civilizations...)
Sorry for being wordy.. (or perhaps, picky) but I really, really appreciate the fact that the team holds back their final release of the game whenever they consider such thing necessary. Although I know not whether my suggestions will ever be considered, I do look forward to see a wonderful final release.
