Beta 4 coming out Jan 4

Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know that we're not going to be able to put up the beta today.  After being off for the last two weeks, we've all been busy playing catch up this week.  We should be able to put it up tomorrow, but I'll update this thread if we need to push it back to next week.

Thanks for the update CariElf. We all appreciate all the effort you and your colleagues are putting into this expansion. None of us mind if you need more time. We all know it's going to be well worth the wait. Thanks to you all!

I'd avoid using the words "we" and "all" together and such as you don't necessarily speak for all the players.

I agree with you though, just letting you know to step lightly around speaking for everyone

Today...tomorrow...whatever, I'd rather have a better product than a half-arsed one.

cool thanks for the update hope everyone had a good holiday break, i know i enjoyed my 2 1/2 weeks off. hope to see the update tomorrow but if next week its aaaallll righty then.

I agree. Besides, I just finished my TA Race mod for my custom race, including a tech tree, and whenever the next beta comes out, I have to port it forward!

Sorry to sound so stupid but i paid for the pre-release version and have so far loved it. When you say that a new beta is out soon (i.we. tomorrow etc) will my client treat that as an update and dl it or are the beta versions separate?

You can continue playing the old beta if you would like...

However to get the new beta, you will have to use "Stardock Central" to update to beta 4. Once the new beta is available, open that program up, it should tell you a new beta is available (if you have that box checked). You can then chose to upgrade to the new beta. Or go to the games section select GC2, open it up and select TA, it should say an update is available. Click on the update button to the right.

Stardock Central will do the installation for you.

The program is available in the downloads section if you don't have it already.

No problems. My computer was giving me problems anyways, so it would of been difficult for me to play.

Anyhow, are you guys going to let us try those editors yet? I would like to be able to determine what you can, and can't do with them so I can ask for the appropiate adjustments.

So, Thalan and Altarian tomorrow? New invasion screen? New AI stuff, some tech balancing?

What? you guys said January 3rd for the release now its January 4th here and it's STILL not out? Where is it? I mean seriously what is this I paid good money for this beta and I expect it when you said it would be out! I want my money back

Eh, that's really not that fun I don't understand why people do it. Ah well! thanks for the update guys really applicate dev's that keep you up to date... Also I'm really looking forward to the new invasion screen... Besides my favorite race made it out a few beta's ago (Korx).

My two favourite races are the Altrians and the Thlans, so I'm on the edge of my seat.

That said, it is important its right, so I understand the wait is necessary. I just hope its there for the weekend. Good work SD

Plus, you'll be happy to know that Cari fixed the 'freighters back to starting planets on reload' bug...which I know several of you have been looking for.

But yeah, besides basic catchup from the holidays, we've had a bad germ going around the office, so some of the key players are out...but we'll be trying our best to get this Beta into your hands.

Good, Stop reading this thread and go fiddle with code or whatever game developers do.

Btw, sympathy on the bug thing, here in the UK we have a mass norovirus outbreak, its claiming 100,000 a week. Glad I watched 'I am Ledgend' to prepare me for the worst.

P.S Great film, not as good as the book.

Understatement of the year so far... Thanks Boogie/Cari. Even if this was the only fixed thing in this beta I'd probably still be happy. Havn't played the last two betas 'cos of this bug.

Glad to read that bug has been eliminated, I was still playing the game anyways and trying different strategies that didn't include relying on the income from freighters to see what I could come up with.

I don't mean to sound like a whiny lil brit, butttttt....

can anyone tell me what the general release time has for the various other betas?

sort of killing myself checking every so often what with that damn norovirus running rampant around my body
