Strange Surrender Behaviour In 3B

I was just playing a game in Beta 3B as the Yor (Large map, all other races, average difficulty, disabled tech trading) when the following happened :

The Drengin decalred war on the Iconians, who surrendered next turn, then the Korath declared war on the Arcean, who surrendered next turn. Both only lost a single small (size 6) world, were equally large and had strong militaries.

Two turns later the Krynn surrendered to the Drengin, again after losing one planet.

I had the Arcean's surrender to their bitter enemies, the Yor.

I just had a game of round-robin surrenders without loss of planets.

The Pirate mega event had just fired, wiping out everyone's military. I (Terrans) rode it out, researched large hulls designed to crush the pirates and then came out with a massive military might (I had a couple hundred thousand BC and bought fleets of my ships).

At this point the Iconians decided I was too strong and declared war, the Korath liked me just fine and the Yor sat there. Then an assassination event brought the Yor to war with me and I bought a "war" between the Korath and Iconians (who were across the map from each other).

A few turns later, the Korath surrendered the Iconians. Then the Yor surrendered to the Iconians to spite me, even though I hadn't even invaded their space yet and finally the Iconians surrendered to me.

The only shots I fired in anger were against the pirates! Undoubtedly I could have crushed everyone had I so desired (no one had a military at all since I had only cleared my space of Pirates), but they didn't even resist!

Maybe the surrender sensitivities need to be looked at?

This has been a mess for a long time. I play with surrender turned off, otherwise, all my games get ruined. People will not only surrender without any combat, but they will surrender to people they aren't fighting, who have opposite alignments.

Argh, I really don't want to turn off surrenders - especially for those instances where its just a matter of tedium to go and finish off their planets. Guess I'll keep my eyes open and see if the surrender mechanism starts biting me routinely.

I just saw this occurr too. In my game the Drengin declared war on the Yor Collective, who surrendered the very next turn before a shot was fired. This was despite the fact that the Yor were rated "strong" and appear to have had more planets than the Drengin. That game obviously went downhill very quickly from there.
