Minors are immune to culture-flipping.

(Also, I pretty conclusively proved it to myself the time I had 16 maxed out influence SBs affecting a minor system (ratio >700:1) for over a year, and it didn't flip.)

Indeed you cant flip a Minor

What would be nice is if Stardock could see the way to give the minors the generic custom AI so they expand etc. I would love to see a game where the Minor races expand and conduct open warfare.
I guess if it were for real then you would expect very young races to go to war with each other more than an advanced civilization. Heck we are still going to war with each other are we not?


User made mods for the Galciv II community

I think minor's should be able to make Asteroid colonies, but not colonize planets. These colonies produce two times more than a planet initial colony tile in worth of research & everything, and these colonies can build ships. That way minors can have a way to expand their power without interfering with the major powers too much. You could interact with these colonies as with one on a planet, except you can't build improvements on them. Asteroids should have different sizes, and only the larger ones can be colonized.

The Pirate event could be changed if the asteroid colonizing and size is implemented, in form of pirate bases that spew out small fighters and corvettes to harass trading & starbases, or the pirates could be made a permanent presence from start of the game this way, starting with a few bases over the galaxy where to launch their harassment attacks from. They would avoid planets, but attack everything in space. They should have influence, so they can flip asteroid mines, but not planets or asteroid colonies.

This should be changed. Why aren't they immune to conquering ? Culture-flipping is another way of conquest, good races are better at it, so this change should strenghten them. And if minor has as much influence as meakest member of U.P, it joins them (or there can be extra meeting of the U.P to vote this matter, let them join or not). I will post it also as TA sugestion.

I still like the idea of having the Minors united into a non-aligned confederation and then once they assume that united identity giving them a generic AI. This could be a random super event set to take place, if at all, sometime in the early mid-game when majors are starting to research and implement the planetary invasion series of techs. Suddenly having a new power in the galaxy (without it being some power that comes from nowhere like the Jagged Knife, pirates and Dread Lords) could significantly mix things up.

Carnoids colonized a planet in a system next to theirs in my last game. It wasn't traded to them because it was within the first few turns that I ran into them. They had more colony ships built but didn't colonize anything further. I have no problem with it personally.

But I do wish that minors would quit spamming the influence starbases in their home systems. It's like they notice they have no influence and thus want to increase it with influence starbases but it does them no good.

We already have those in the form of mining bases.

Such bases would be too small to launch ships or anything else. They would also be far too small to have even 1 tile on them.

So you can assume that they do indeed exist in the game, especially since you can build asteroid bases anyway.
