Anyhow, with all the talk about unique racial techs, I figured, why not use a similiar system that is being used for abilities? As most of you are aware, different races start with different inherent abilities, each of which can be further enhanced by spending ability points on them, or, if you so choose, you may buy new ones.
With a talent point buy system, the standard races would start with their default talents. By giving them some points to buy additional talents, one may further optimize their current race.
This would do two things:
1. It would provide a means for a player to customize a race to their play style.
2. It would serve as a means to allow custom races to get special techs and stuff. That would in turn be a relief to those players who are concerned about their favorite custom races.
