GalCiv 2 suddenly won't start!

hello and excuse me if this has been answered in the past but... Ive been playing GalCiv 2 (without expansion) fine until now where I start the game and the screen goes black (like right before any games' title screens begin) except it just stays black. Im running windows XP media centre and have reloaded the game twice once with and once without the patches both times rebooting the comp. Has this happened to anyone b4?? please help! this game rocks and I cant sleep!

Try deleting the Prefs.ini file (located in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2).

Once you get the game to start you can reset the game resolution and any other options.

You should update the game to at least 1.4x.
