Another game killing problem with 1.6 Final

Now the combat is messed up. I attack a pirate ship with three fighters. Only one fires and then the pirate ship destroys all of my fighters. It happened earlier with four fighters attacking a pirate ship; only one fired and then the rest were destroyed. I have sent info to gc2bugs@stardock.net . I just have one question. What happened? The beta was really stable and worked. I didn't have very much problems, except for the memory crash thing. Now with the final release of 1.6 it's acting like a beta with a vengeance.

When you say only one fired, were you in the battle manager or just watching in the normal view? Only one ship ever visibly fires when watching through the normal view, you only see all ships visibly fire when in the battle manager.

There is text at the bottom of the screen during the battle as it is going on. I had three ships. Only one fired, (I was watching the battle), and the text showed that one of my fighters fired, (plus I only saw one fighter fire), then the next three text slots were filled with the pirate ship blowing my fighters out of the stars. (I saw the pirate ship fire three times.)

It happened that way with my four fighters against the pirate ship also.

Sorry for the multiple posts. My computer got disconnected from the internet and then froze. When I came back to this forum page it hadn't posted the first time, so I submitted it again. It then took me back and showed two posts. Sorry I'm an idiot.

That was the battle manager then.

Combat events occur per-weapon in Dark Avatar, not per-ship. So the pirate ship had three weapons (obviously very powerful), which allowed it to fire on and destroy all of your ships in just one turn.

I'll also say that the event list at the bottom seems to be jumbled up. The shots fired in any given round of combat are often mixed up with each other, so the events of your other weapons firing didn't get listed before the respective ships went boom. They still did damage (I assume), but you didn't see it occur in the action. I know I often see the health of my ships not properly updated in the bottom left before combat ends because I blew up all of the enemy ships before their last shots landed.

You don't seem to understand english. My ships attacked first. Actually only one attacked. Then the pirate ship fired. (It had more than 3 weapons.) There was still space left for more text in the even list. There were no scrolling buttons or whatever. I can see my ships fire, (when they actually do fire). My computer doesn't have a 100,000,000,000 GHZ processor. It's not from the 400th century. What don't you understand about only one of my ships fired and I had three ships.

Are you from another planet that is made out of lead?

I know how combat occurs in DA. I beta tested GC2, DA, the 1.6 beta and I'm beta testing the SINS game. I think I know how stuff works with these games. Why don't you use your psychic abilities, (that obviously suck), and communicate to your english teacher to start you out in 1st grade again.

I too have seen that happen in my battles - usually against DL's ships. IMO that happens because game calculates outcome of the battle round before it displays results. Your first ship probably destroyed the pirate, so other two never fired. But pirate destroyed all of them in return fire, and since it was the stongest ship of all, it survived the battle by that peculiar rule.

I can't decide to feel sorry in general that the world produces such idiotic self absorbed people or to feel sorry for you in particular for whatever reason causes you to blatantly act like you do on these forums. I do feel the most sorry for those you treat like that in RL who put up with it. I'm glad that you're a master beta tester, you obviously know more than everyone else here, so why bother to ask if you're just going to be a jerk to anyone who tries to help? Even if they're not helpful, no reply is better than such an asinine remark. There is such a thing as common courtesy and from what posts I've read of yours, you lack any fiber of it.

There are multiple things that could be happening in your situation, but you don't give enough details from your problem, oh great one. I would list the necessary details that could help in figuring out the problem, and then the subsequent results that could be deduced from them, or possibly just chalk it up to a little bug that will be shortly fixed, but I'm sure you already know them and my meager knowledge would pale in comparison to yours. I'd add a quip about the "golden rule" but you're either to young and immature to fully grasp it or to old and immature to learn from it. and it would be hypocritical because by that rule I should have ignored your comments, but anyone with intelligence can tell the difference between a derogatory statement and one intended to counter such behavior in others.

I won't be reading this thread again, so if posted, your no doubt masterfully worded reply will be written in vain, excluding someone else reading this and thinking even more poorly of you, or perhaps someone who also suffers from "Internet bully rage" will agree with you.

You could have simply stated your bug, and politely replied to the person who was trying to aid/understand you. It doesn't cost anything, and if your anger-limit is actually that low, then seek professional help, you'll live longer that way.

I'm sure SD appreciates your bug report, everyone thanks you for that, now please halt the "biggest baddest kid on the forum hill" routine. Your conduct on the Star Trek Mod thread is absolutely laughable. It's not needed or appreciated anywhere. I hope this issue is solved, for you and for everyone, and it wouldn't hurt to list more details so the instance can at the very least be accurately recreated by others to run some tests.

I will give you that you're no where near the worst bully I've seen online. One guy threatened to come to my house and beat me up on a different forum (Yeah, seriously). That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard, and Texas has fun laws about people who come to your property and incite violent acts.

And again, seriously, I'm sure you're a good person, but drop the act you throw out there sometimes.

People at home not paying much attention to you? And you mentioned my post in the Star Trek MOD thread. So... your following me around trying to save the forums? And you won't read it again. But wouldn't it have been "mature" to ignore the village idiot and not say anything? And hope that uglycow fades away. I'm not trying to be a bully. I'm exasperated that people here don't seem to understand and keep telling me I don't know what I mean when I know what I mean. I am using simple english. If you feel threatened by me then have your mommy come to the forums with you. You will probably find out that I'm a a withered old man hiding being the the Wizard of OZ.

Anyway.... Just for some of the silly people who can't read or even understand english if they can read it; Only ONE of my ships fired. In every single battle I can see every single shot. If you don't believe it then I'm sorry you who have messed up computers that can't display graphics properly. I do not have only one ship fire and the battle is over because the rest didn't register graphically. I already explained that there was no option to scroll the event text after the battle, or even during it. (The shots are recorded below the cinematic battle.) This wasn't a quick as lightning battle. None of mine are. (Unless I'm attacking a colony ship or something without weapons.) There were only four lines of text on the event text. That's it. F-o-u-r. One of my fighters has a beam damage of over 50. I had three of them. I was fighting a pirate ship with 32 hit points. It had armor, let's say it all together, a-r-m-o-r. It was in the twenties for armor defense, ex: like 22 or 25. The point is three of them should have killed it. Especially the four that attacked earlier with the same result. (The mention of four meeting the very same fate was posted earlier.) ONE, (o-n-e) of my fighters fired. Doing 18 damage. I had three (t-h-r-e-e)! That was all that fired of my fighters. Then the pirate ship fired and all of my fighters went away. I would use the term destroyed but I'm worried most of the words I use here people can't seem to grasp.

And yes the pirate ship survived the attack. I said in the first post that all of my fighters were destroyed. The game does not let both sides get destroyed. The pirate ship survived. If your games are working correctly, great! You can say, "In my game everything works the way it should." Don't start telling me I don't know what I know. The same goes for me. I shouldn't say everyone doesn't understand english. Everyone seems to be able to type english... some just don't seem to understand english. So when those who don't seem to understand english start acting like they can understand english, I will shut my keyboard and stop typing "everyone doesn't understand english."

So if you don't want to post in this thread... then don't. As I said earlier, it is not my evil plot to be a bully and thereby take over the world. I only started getting mean because people are telling me I don't know what I'm talking about when I do. If your games are working correctly good. You can rub it in and say, "uglycow it sucks to be you because your game doesn't work and mine does."

If english is not your language then post in your language. Then you can make fun of me when I don't understand. But I probably won't post in a language I don't understand.

This is a bug thread anyway. So if you have something to contribute about this bug, then post it. All I'm trying to do with this thread is let people know of a bug I encountered.

If I'm bugging anyone then by all means, start a thread in the bug portion of these forums of how uglycow bugs everyone and uglycow needs to be updated.

I think Iztok Bitenc is probably right. The first shot of your first probably was enough to kill the pirate, so none of your other ships needed to fire. The pirate also takes a shot that round with each of its weapons and is able to kill your ships. Then since both sides were destroyed, the stronger ship (the pirate) survives with 1 hp.

What kinds of ships did you have compared to the pirate?
In your battle, did the pirate ship survive with 1 hp?

If your ships do not fire again, and you have a saved game that shows it, you could send it to gc2bugs@stardock.com, and we will look into why that happened.
