I've been futzing about with modding the racial picks section, and I'm wondering how my opponents make use of the new options. For instance: If I make a new option that costs 1pt, and gives a 100% PQ bonus to each colonized planet, someone would have to be either insane, or stupid to not pick it. Would the AI? Can the AI even be said to come into play at this point?
Ideally, each opponent would have one "primary" category that they try to maximize (coded in the RaceConfig.xml), and spend any remaining points in a randomized "secondary" category. For instance, the Drengin and the Korath would both try to maximize all racial traits related to the military. However, during the initial galaxy setup, they would each be randomly assigned (different each game) a second category to try and maximize. The Drengin might end up with bonuses to social production, and the Korath might get bonuses to research...
Does anyone know how it would actually work? If it doesn't work this way, is it a good or bad idea? Might such a thing be rolled into 1.7 or the next expansion pack? Is this too many questions?
