Just some miscellaneous comments from playing DA for a while.
- Like the super abilities. My first custom race after finishing the campaign was with the Super Adaptr ability. This turned out to be useless on some maps if there weren't many planets of the two types. My second custom race was with Super Isolationalist, I admit I was expecting that i would have normal movement and everybody else would be limited, but of course i'm limited to 3 speed as well. This has been interesting, it was much easier for me to make my territory and solidfy it than when i was a super adaptr. Thus, I like super isolationist a little better. Of amusement I now have my super adaptr race play on the maps (i like gigantic loose/tight clusters, random habitable), even the computer doesn't do overly well with them.
- In DL I would use one tech and trade it to all of the others at once and get what i can. In DA I find myself building $ and then paying $ for techs, this seems a heck of a lot cheaper. I'll build up some diplo and then pay for one tech thats much higher in the weapons tree to get a boost.
- I like having the spies, but wish there was an enhancement resource or building for them. I tend to build up to 5 and place 3 of them on one race at one time. Only way I can get enough espionage to be worth it.
- I notice mining resources tend to pop up mid-late game more often in DA. May just be me paying more attention. I now keep my eyes out for those.
- I like to play in gigantic with 9 random races, is there a setting to say use my custom races as part of the random pool? I've been just clicking on the ? adding my custom to replace one of the regulars and then leaving the rest as their random choices.
- i would really like it if some of the events/planetary bonuss were improved, or more added. Sometimes when you get good -12 credits, ntral option 3 credits, evil option 65 credits..not overly meaningful (at least to me)
Overall i like the stuff DA brings to the table. Keeps me entertained. good job stardock.
