If it's not too much trouble, I'd very much appreciate it if the planet/ship sidebar's filter and position stayed the same unless I changed it myself. If I'm missing an already existing feature that will help, please let me know. Also, if this is a holdover from Dread Lords and not up for change in the expansion (or at least not proper discussion in the beta forum), that's fine.
Examples/explanations:
- I commonly use the mode:planet/filter:unowned/sort:class options to find planets to colonize; my routine when I have several colony ships ready for orders is this:
1) select colony ship if it's not already selected
2) open planet/ship sidebar to planet/unowned/sort-by-class(descending)
3) scroll to the planet I want to start with (for example, if I've already dispatched colony ships to all feasible planets class 10 or higher, I would scroll to the first class 9 planet)
4) click the picture of the first intended planet
5) if I wish to send the ship to that planet, I right click the planet
-- when I right-click, the planet/ship sidebar reverts (right in front of my eyes) to the "mine" filter and moves to a particular planet in the list (always the same one but with no particular reason, I imagine it's based on an internal ID), this means I have to click "unowned" again and scroll through the planet list to where I was previously, which takes several seconds (I know, I know, I probably deserve an "oh, poor baby" for this, but it adds a lot of time when I'm sending 10+ colony ships a turn).
6) the game automatically selects the next ship needing orders, and if it's a colony ship (usually is) I repeat from step 4.
- a bit different case; sometimes for some reason not all of my just-built ships actually launch when I click the launch-all-just-built-ships button at the beginning of the turn, and when I notice this I could have 30+ ships that I need to find and launch, so I:
1) open planet/ship sidebar to ship/mine/sort-by-orbitting (this puts all ships in orbit of anything higher in the list than ships not in any orbit).
2) click the first ship in the list
3) if I want to launch it, I click the launch button below the "ships in orbit" window on the bottom bar
-- when I launch the ship, it moves from the "in-orbit" to the "not-in-orbit" category and thus understandably moves to the bottom of the list (or at least below the "in-orbit" ships); this means I have to scroll to the top of the list again every time I want to select another unlaunched ship. As you can imagine, this can turn a task of 30 seconds for a bunch of unlaunched ships into a several minutes.
4) click the next ship and repeat from 3.
I can understand that accomodating my second example would be more complicated since it may sometimes be desirable to auto-change the position in the list to display the new list-location of the currently selected ship. However, I think the first example is a bit less complicated; can anyone think of a reason that they would want the sidebar to revert back to planet/mine and that particular planet? (that's not a rhetorical question)
Thank you for your time.
