.sav files, debug.err, and screenshot attached in zip file and mailed. Screen shot may look a little fuzzy, I compressed it for mailing, but the game screen is fine. There is also a quicksav file - reason is explained below. Debugg.err not posted on the forum as its massive - around 5mb for some reason.
I had pressed the turn button, and it changed to the recessed grey button, then hung. No movement on screen occured, and it appears as if it crashed right at the start of the turn routine. I pressed quicksave three times, and each time it saved fine - they are shown in the debug.err. Game was still "frozen", however I could select individual ships / planets etc no bother (turn button still depressed), I could drag the screen around using left mouse button. Real strange "crash",
It did not change after about ten minutes, so documented it all. I looked at the time stamp on both autosave and quicksave files - the quicksave time stamp is after the autosave time stamp - which it should be as I pressed autosave after the "crash" - however the quicksave file ran fine, no problems later after rebooting. I included both in case there is a difference in them that might help you - no game play took place between them.
Once again I had difficulty resetting the PC - it was around 80kb locked in memory more than usual for a clear desktop, after clearing to desktop. All my crashes been like that. When I try to reboot I cant - have to use hardware reboot. There was a difference in the crash this time in that the video didnt go bang - as can be seen from the screen shot. I updated to the 2 Nov Nvidia driver (V93.71) yesterday, maybe thats the reason for a slightly less dramatic crash - however the previous driver I was using was only the previous Nvidia version, so it was hardly out of date in a real world sense.
SLI cards temperature was fine, PC temp was fine. I run Diskeeper as a background service, normally extremely well behaved doubt it was that - however on return to desktop after reboot, Diskeeper worked its tail off for about 15 mins, I could hear the disk access. It had picked up some kind of detached/temp/cache file that was orphaned and was sorting it out.
Files zipped and mailed
