help plz im new at this

i wanna make a new tech, ive found out how to put it in the tech tree but i dont know how to make a tech give you a ship comp., and can it be done in XML or do i need a compiler.

BTW. while im here i should ask how do i change the damage value of a weapon ie.. Disruptors?

1. Make the tech
2. Make the ship component (in GC2types.xml)
3. Set the tech requirement of the component as the internal name of the tech

GC2types is also where you change the damage values of weapons.

Make the techs by editting the correct folders in notepad.
