So I think I'll go with the first one

I have chosen to go mostly with Voltron's new models for 0.4, mainly to give everyone a chance to get a feel for the different styles. There are only a few, like the Vorchan, that are much different. Most are just retextured or rescaled. I really hope that I am in no way offending Coplann, Vorlone or Robalis! Hi guys!

There is no way the mod would ever have been created without their efforts and like I said - most of the models are using the same meshes anyway.
Finally have found a plugin that imports .X files as well as exports them so I can play with scales etc as much as I like now. Final file sizes seem to depend on how well the particular model works with the particular exporter. The import / export one can be found
here. The only other good one is the Panda exporter right?
giving the fighters a defensive bonus or something... why do you want to anyway? |
Yeah it was a bit of wishfull thinking to assume I could just add a defensive point to the actual hulls. The best idea I have at the moment is to remove the sizemod from weapons (or make it really small) and apply quite a large sizemod to defenses. This would make defenses much more effective in fighters than capitals. Makes sense to me, it should take up all that extra space to defend a larger ship. Maybe the same for engines but give mediums a speed boost so that they stay current throughout the game.
The reason I want to give fighters a defensive bonus and capitals an attacking bonus is because it is the only way to get a carrier-type thing happening. If a fleet is made of high-defence fighters and a high-attack capital, then fire will be focused on the capital while the fighters rip it up. Also means that fighters hopefully remain more useful late game. I am very keen to see what the ai does with all these changes - will have a better idea by the end of the day.
