I bought this game online (there were problems with buying via stardock store - but its another story), download it (why it automatically download BETA? ) and got first problem directly after start.
I have LCD 20" with 1600:1200 resolution as primary screen and projector 800:600 as secondary screen at radeon x1900xtx with ATI AVIVO. Projector is usually off line of course - but i have no need to disable secondary screen at ATI drivers everytime I shut down projector and enable it everytime my wife want to watching DVD movie

GalCiv write me Windows error message
"Your desktop resolution is curently set to 800 x 600. The minimum supported resolution for Galactic Civilizations II is 1024 x 768. Right click on your desktop and choose properties, and then click on the settings tab to adjust your desktop resolution. "
After klick to ok button game falls back to windows.

When i disable secondary screen at driver configuration game starts normally without problems. I can live with this bug but it is simple to remove it and it is really anoying
