After playing GalCiv2 for the last several days, I find myself clueless as to the origin of some minor in-game graphic dysfunction. The abnormality lies in animations as described below.
1.) Starbases sometimes fail to smoothly rotate, but rather 'jerk' and the frames 'jiggle'. Also, the Starbase animations behave similarly when viewing a particular base detail window.
2.) When in the primary window of the SHIPYARD interface, the view of a selected class of starship behaves crazily and uncontrollably. Either the ship persists in rotating too fast to see, or the view zooms in and out wildly. This problem also occurs before the start of a mission, when selecting ship and race colors.
3.) Planets often cease to rotate properly, and/or the orbit of their moons is disrupted. They don't wobble and shake like Starbases, but it genuinely looks as if they are attempting to rotate/orbit properly, but are then held back. Its as if there's an argument between the planet and the gravity of the center of the solar system. Also, when viewing the "Details" window of a particular planet's interface, the very large planet graphic morphs and assumes elongated shapes and then shrinks again, or sometimes wobbles as is the case (described above) with starbases.
4.) When viewing the galaxy, if the cursor barely touches the edge of my screen, the view quickly jumps to the farthest edge of the environment in that direction.
I'm running a system with Windows XP Pro Svc. Pack 2.
-ASUS A8N SLi Deluxe Mainboard
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800 CPU (2.6 GHz)
-3 Gig RAM
-nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX Video Adapter (256MB)
The drivers on all my hardware are up to date. I've never experienced such video problems on this system before, and can't figure it out now. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
