This is probably also a much-discussed topic, but here it goes:
It think a campaign would be a lot more interesting, if done warzone 2100-style, instead of a row of missions connected only by story.
In warzone, you had a small starting location. Once you finished that mission, the map was enlarged (all you possessions still were there where you built them). Thus, if we start in galciv2 on a tiny map, another portion of the map could be added. This would enable us to prepare for what's coming, making the campaign a lot more immersive. This must be coupled with some forms of restrictions, such as a turn limit for each mission, and/or development (techs, num of bases, etc.). Thus, once I've built a well-defended system of colonies, complete with military bases, fleets and all that, then such an invasion of uber-strong enemies would be a lot more interesting. (and painful, seeing as all those carefully hetched colonies get destroyed one-by-one...)
But I don't know, whether that's possible with the current engine. Any comments on that?
p.s.: It's highly annoying, that it seems to be impossible to post a new post here using opera, where can I send the appropriate bug-report to?
