i've been beta testing 1.2. well, beta testing is a loose term. i make a bug report here and there, but more than anything i'm just too impatient to wait for releases (yet, patient enough to deal with occassional crashes).

with modding being the big theme of 1.2, i've been getting into it. there are many changes i'd like to try out and get a feel for: higher government forms dependant on ethics, more things to separate the different aligntment, etc etc. i was looking around the planet improvement files trying to figure out what happened to the poitical capital (i think the tech requirement is using the display name for Star Democracy, not the internal name StarDem). but i noticed some structures that were removed from the release. i wondered if they had art. i jumped into the appriate gfx folder, and holy heck! there's so much spare art in there, i'm almost afraid to start modding for fear of getting carried away! good job! modding is definately more fun when you've got some nice art waiting for you to use it.

and especially considering that i downloaded the game, i'm impressed. a lesser company might have removed all the extras from release to save bandwidth and such.
