Does the Mind Control Center not work?

I've built this a few times, and as far as I can tell it has no effect. It's description says its supposed to make planets that might defect do so almost immediatly, but I've had enemy planets in my territory with the red danger of defecting symbol sit around without defecting for literally hundreds of turns after I build the Mind Control Center.

Maybe your empire is too unsavoury in other respects.

Have you checked the effectivness of your deodorant lately?

It does not do what the description says (and the description was never updated). Instead of making culture-flips easier, it just gives you a hefty economy boost.

I worked out that it did not help with culture flips but I did not realise it had any effect on the economy.

It gives you a 100% economy bonus.
I'm always amazed how anyone can fail to notice that all their taxes have been doubled.

Just slightly off but when you mentioned about taxes doubling, It always amazes me how folks always vote for Democrats and their taxes go up. (even when the liars say they won't raise taxes) (new NJ Governor for example)

OK, thanks, I honestly didn't notice that, probably because by the time I can build one of them toward the end-game I am raking in way more money that I can spend anyway.

I wonder what the evil rationale behind the economy boost is in case they ever want to update the description. Maybe the mind control is like subliminal advertising and everyone becomes mindless consumers.

Right. I usually go plus a couple hundred when I build it and my income is increased to a couple thousand so it's quite noticable with the amout of taxes I usually have in a large game..
And I seriously hope that the building is nerfed. It's like a delayed win-button.

Strange, I'm playing one of my seldom evil games right now and it seemed to me, the bonus was only applied to the planet I built it upon. That's why I chose my Economical Capital and the bonus is nice, but I built it to have better defection chances and now there are two planets which I have influence >12 but they don't defect to me. I hope they fix the building or it's description, but this way it's a bit cheesy.
