are the Dodorian Fedration ship designs something for a Metaverse race or is it just some cool stuff you're doing in the game?

anyway, as for my custom race, I'm planning on trying to make the ships look insectoid.

oh yea, can you have a set of ship designs attatched to your custom race so that when you play it, you can use those ships in a new game without having to reload them or something? just wondering.
