Since I was a bit tired of knowing what awaits me when I play a galaxy (which races, availability of habitable planets etc.) and winning my 4th consecutive game on normal difficulty I decided to put everything possible on random.
It's so much more fun now.
It also teaches you to adapt to a variety of circumstances you probably wouldn't have to face when playing on standard options.
In my last game I had to start with three worlds against a Thalan Empire with ten worlds building heavily on influence. I still managed to crush them.
Everyone who is tired of knowing in advance what awaits him should try that.
