I've noticed that the Guard command seems to be no different from the Sentry command in beta 3. I've set a fleet of ships to guard my starbases but every turn that another ship comes within a certain range I have to reissue a guard order. Also, on at least one occasion when my starbase was attacked it sacrificed itself to save the guarding ships from taking any damage. What is the purpose of a guard order if not to have the ships defend the base at all costs?
One request I would like to make. Is there any way to set a ship to Sentry and Persue? By this I mean that if another ship comes within its area it will try, within a certain radius of its sentry point, to persue and destroy. It bothers me that I can set ships to sentry and then watch as other ships fly past them after I hit the turn button. If those other ships are fast enough I may never be able to catch them or they may get to their destination before I can. It might also be nice to set an option for a particular sentry to create a message if it saw anyone. That would allow me to track movement near important sentries but not have to worry about others.
