Now that I've had a full 3 days to check out the game I'm posting my biggest pet peeve(s). If this has come up before sorry, but on my dial up searching is just too painfully slow.
I enjoy alot about the game, but there is one aspect that just frustrates me to no end. That is nearly everything to do with ships. Ok, the ship designer is cool, and actually building them is fine, but once they are built things get really annoying.
1) In the ship yard I can see the existing designs, and I can see some basic stats on them, but I want to be able to see them with the component breakdown (or even just the regular info screen) as if I were redisgning them. Indeed, when I press upgrade, I don't get the ship with all of its goodies on it, I get a clean hull. Why? That's just annoying. So either tell me how to see the ship buildout from the shipyard, or add a way to do so, even if its through the upgrade button.
2) Now I can build ships, but where is my auto launch? Yes I figured out how to do it with waypoints, but wouldn't it be nice to also have simple autolaunch? Also occasionally when the ship launches to the waypoint, it disappears from the screen and I have to use F1 to make it reappear.
3) When I have a stack of ships how do I tell how much movement individual ships or fleets have? It would be really nice to have the number of remaining moves show up on the little ship icon (which has the logistics size). Put the number in the lower left corner, make it green if there are moves and red for 0. Also let me get the info on the ship or fleet without haveing to click through the entire list of ships in my empire.
4) When I use F1 to see my ships let me filter out the ships I don't want to see! I honestly do not need to see all 15 freighters, or double listing of ships and fleets. At least put the ships underneath their coresponding fleets. Also could you put in drop down menus rather than having to click through all the sorting options please.
And something I noticed that is not ship related. I reloaded from quicksave and it reset all my planet values to their initial value. Sure I still actually had value 10++ planets, but on the list everything was 10, 4, 5, ... Further I was way out in front in this game to where the othe races were not trading mil techs with me. That's fine, actually that's good, but after the reload it was as though they forgot for a turn how far ahead I was, and traded me all their mil techs (well I didn't check every other empire, but the first one I checked did). A turn or two later they were back to not trading mil techs with me again. Actually that's an exploit that I can avoid myself, but it would be nice if I didn't have to. Reminds me of the influance calculation problem from GC1 actually.
So if I'm missing somethings please let me know what the features are that are already in there, otherwise please consider adding some of the features I suggested. I think it would make dealing with ships alot nicer.
