In my first huge game that i'm currently playing, i'm just ending colonization the phase. I did very slow tech, 9 normal AI, abundent planets and stars (scattered). Besides the few 4-6 class planets left, almost every planet is colonized. I had a colony ship on the opposite side of the small section that was left to colonize. By the time it could cross the map to reach a habitable planet, that planet would surely be taken. There was one planet (unexplored) nearby that was bordered by 3 other races that wasn't colonized yet though. I decided to send my lonely colony ship to check it out. When he got in sensor range I saw 2 class 10 planets and a class 26, but also another colony ship headed to the star. Luckily, My ship was faster and I grabbed that class 26. While I didn't get an event to boost the quality, I had researched ethics right away (very slow tech took forever but instantly having mostly class 18 planets was worth it for the strategy i'm using) and chose neuttral, so now I have 32 workable tiles turn make this planet a super economical capital.
