... By "I have acopy of the save" I kinda meant I wasn't going to touch that save again untill I heard from you guys. Unfortunatly, it seems that I can't find the savegame folder in GalCiv2... . Also, since I kept playing this morning from the autosave, the autosaves are kinda... long lost.
Edit:
Ok, found the savegame folder (thanks #galciv!), and apparently the problem. When the error occured, it apparently deleted both of the save game names I usually use -- without letting Galciv2 know they were deleted, as they both still show up somehow. Which also explains how the second save slot, which I just tried to use this morning before work, also ended up corrupted. Any ideas on a fix, since the saves are still showing up in Galciv2? Just delete them in game, and see if that fixes it? (not going to touch the "saves" untill then).
edit:
A few missed details... The game doesn't hang until *after* its taken long enough to finish loading the nonexistant files -- or at least, it takes long enough to load, and does the normal blackscreen for half a second, then crashes before drawing in the game. This happens on both of my previously existing non-auto save slots, but not a newly created slot, and (though I haven't tested it yet) probably my "start of game" slot that I use to restart a given configuration from time to time.
