Ship creation and templates

Ok I am getting the ship creation down to a point where I am making them from scratch rather than simply modify existing ones.

What I would like to know now is templates. I know the game starts off with ships you can not make. How do I make a template so that only my own creations are used? Particularly the starter colony miner and flagship? ( without cheats and mods )

Also is it possible to make your own starbases? And if not should I make a template for a custom rce to use, how do I choose the style of starbase that race will have?

One of the things Id like to do in the game is have Terran style cargo ships, Korx Fighters, and Yor starbases and capital ships. Is this possible in a template?

There are some sets of ship components (5-7 not sure) in the game. Each set include specific `hull` and `extras` models.

There are ship styles in the game that are sets of ships assembled using one(!) of ship components set. You can see that basic components of ship are equal for some races (for example Terran Alliance & Arcean Empire) but hull and extras are in different combinations.

You can create custom ship style (set of ships assembled using one of ship components set). It means you can't have Terran style cargo ships, Korx Fighters, and Yor starbases and capital ships (without mod). But you can use completely your ship style for custom race and you'll start with only your creations.
