Genarous Allies?

In the 1st GalCiv it was practically impossible to ask your ally or a friendly civilization to give you something for free, even (or maybe especially) if they were powerfull and you - poor player just dying in agony tormented by your enemies. Is it different in GalCiv2? If not I would suggest that AI civilizations could be more generous to their allies and friends...

I know I've seen a couple of screenshots and the like of the player asking/receiving tribute/gifts from the AI. So it's certainly "possible". Whether or not it will be frequent enough for individual people's tastes - well, I imagine we'll have to wait to play the game to find out for ourselves.

generous is a subjective measure. I have had no problem getting help from friends in GalCiv1. I am assuming that GalCiv2 will be no different. I know Frogboy was saying that he has helped his friends and they have helped him. Again though, help is a subjective measure.

i think that if theres a common enemy the computer players will start to get more cooporative and begin to trade weapons tech and stuff to players against there enemies so that they can be able to survive

at least tat is what i think happened in here https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx

Actually a good question , in GC1 asking anything was "considered" as demending tribute worsing relationships with the one you ask from even if its your ally.

Is this "fixed" in GC2 ?

Exactly, that was my point. You couldn't ask your Ally to help you e.g. by providing some money or a technology... Sometimes they can give you a tribute voluntarily, but it's not the same as helping your allies.

From what ive read around the place it is said that the diplomacy is similar to Civ4's so i am hoping you can "ask" friendly civs for stuff and "demand" for stuff of enemy/neutral civs.

They always threw money at me in Galciv1 when I was more powerful. Something about admiring me (whether I was good or evil). I think it was just to salve their conscience before asking me for free ships when the "minor" races came along and started kicking their arses. Was playing earlier and the I-League had a good 20+ death Knights thats tough to beat without dreadnoughts!
