Very nice; though you might want to add a bit about modding for the AI Any ship style you design the AI will randomly attach parts to; sometimes this isn't an issue, but most of the time it will place components at the wrong scale, or in poor locations, make you ship designs often look like so much junk thrown together. The only way to avoid this is to design ships for the AI utilizing All the Technology and preferably with +25% miniaturization. These designs should try to fit

well actually... Im not making a Halo mod... I just posted these Halo inspired ships here. Notably I used the game's ship customizer... those were made with the existing jewelry.

here are some UNSC ships I made... or my take on it... they will be in the next Gauntlet's Race Mod update. I stayed with a big hulking MAC gun approach.. the small hull has one such item in front and low, the medium has two side by side, and the large has 4 built into it; plus lots of hangars. The Fighters are nothing too special though.

UPDATE: So I've been playing too much Sins of a Solar Empire to mod much; I am reinstalling the game and planning on playing with earnest this recent 1.7 patch, in the mean time I just finished up to portrait 85... when i play I will play with a human race and build/design a new ship set that will be similar to Halo's UNSC.... Yeah i read the other thread, I have been on a Halo 3 kick too, so I see no reason not to throw in some UNSC ships lol. Who knows maybe I can rig up a co

hahaha excellent an opinion. I'll see what I can do.. glad to hear the asgard are liked... sorry to hear you don't absolutely worship my Terran Sovereignty ships haha! PS- Do the AI place the ship components fairly rationally on these designs... believe it or not, but I havn't actually sat and played for longer than about an hour in well... since I started this mod lol

Hi, I was hoping a few people might chime in about my Race Mod and the upgrade package. I am now working on the fifth version of the mod, and wanted to talk about what is planned. 100 race images (I'm at 80 so far) 100 race logos (the current total is 75) 50 total minor races 25 custom races -----each with a ship set, custom homeworld, and some with custom planet textures. -----new dialogue from the aliens, probably an extra 5 dialogue sets if possible (Daleks!)

the only issue with that, is that updates to the game will inevitably replace said images, so back those up! I assumed you had the old version because this post is regarding that version lol... not that it matters... I'd be interested to see what minors you've made... I just started work on version 5; which currently already boosts the 60 or so images to 75, but I'm aiming for 100 Race Images, and increasing the minor count from 35 to 50. So a long time ago I replaced the Psyonic beam sound effect with that of a Dalek saying EXTERMINATE!!! and ever since, now when I play my wonderful Daleks, (i designed tiny daleks as ships lol) they fly and swoop and fire saying their best catch phrase... and I ensure that every design can have at least one psyonic weapon. Firstly; No I do not believe I have ever heard or seen a way to spawn the regular minor races. Secondly, I wish we could set minor race to up to 10 or even 30 lol Thirdly, I'm happy you downloaded this mod, but that must have been a while back, I Highly suggest you uninstall it and apply Gauntlet's Race Mod 3.0 and then add the 4.0 package. Hope it helps. Oh yeah one last thing; since the random race does select from a small sampling of the original race image

for crying out loud... apparently Galciv doesnt read mod folders with .0 at the end of the name.... so I needed to change that... Please update 3 and 4

yes there should be a selectable mod in the menu the particular folder from the 3.0 pack labeled Gauntlet's Race Mod 3.0 should be placed in your mods directory under Galactic Civ. Take a look at the readmes and make sure that the directory locations of everything are correct... also make sure that in the mod itself that there is a 'mod-description' file. If not email me and I can email you one or run you through how to make one.

So Version 4.0 is done. Notably it is its own upgrade pack adds 5 race images, and creates a image for each of the new race images called 'robotrace1001' and so forth... this allows you to select it for your custom races so that important news updates are issues by your own race's image rather than a robot... adds character IMO... adds a couple of new custom races.... also my custom races got some custom planets GFX! some new blues and greens out there for ya! <br

Okay firstly, it does pick the 8 races randomly from the pool of 30 that exist. However it seems to heavily weigh the dice in favor of certain races, or it could be my imagination, but I think the Paulos and the Snathi are 3 times more likely to show up than the Akillians. The logo thing could certainly exist, its probablly my mistake as in my personal version they are using more logos than is in the original game- which is why the next version will be supplying a bunch hopefully.

Thats not entirely true, older versions included a game option that lets minor races colonize and invade... I believe that they now do this just very rarely... I once had the snathi consume the Drengin Empire and become 20 planets large! You can try adding a line in the race xml called 'agression' it exists fro any major race... it might do something it might not.

I've dealt with this- The AI will place the same type of component in teh same spot of the same size... Preferably you should design all of your ship designs with a race that has 25% miniturization bonus... and you will need designs for each ship hull, and then extras for every type of cargo ship type... spore ships etc.
