The Yor = Ithkul in MOO3 They get diplomatic penalties that aren't shown. I hate the Terrans and Altarians. They always give me crappy trade deals.

As someone said before, you don't have to murder someone's child to show tell them about murder. Fire JM.
Oh it's also on DailyTech as well now. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=1209
http://www.theesa.com/piracy/index.php - report the piracy by StarForce here. What they are doing is essentially racketeering. And even though they're based in Russia, I'm pretty sure they signed that Copyright convention, so yes, it is very illegal. The incident has also been slashdotted. http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/11/2049230
Just got an event where the Caldors poisoned Mars which was still a Class 4, and it actually increased in PQ. Thought it was stupidly funny.
They don't. They actually can't distinguish between humans and other AI player. That is a form of cheating and THE AI DOES NOT CHEAT! (except for econ bonuses at levels above Intelligent)
I believe that's Civ 3's tech trading scheme. Dunno about Civ4. But a lot of the suggestions to restrict AI from trading tech with each other is basically - we want the AI to play dumber. I think the bigger question is, do they always accept every trade they're offered by another AI? If so, then that's a problem, because humans will not accept crap trades from the AI.
If this were a WWII game, would Japan surrender to Burma in the end? If this were a WWII game, that would be Japan surrendering to Britain, because Burma did not achieve their independence from Britain until 2-3 years after Japan surrendered.
Because if they built farms, it would make it even easier for me to invade because the low morale would mean I could simply buy off their population to join my army with Information Warfare. Heck, *I* don't build farms until I have a nice morale starbase and/or some morale trade goods.
BTW, have you guys considered, oh, reducing tech rate to very slow and see how that pans out?
Often the AI will refuse to sell you military techs when they feel you're too powerful. Some AIs will always give you crap deals. Terrans and Altarians are particularly notable on this. After a point, the races that do give you good deals will be bankrupt and will give you pennies for your tech.
Starting conditions? Rare planets, stars, habitable planets. Small map, common anomalies. Very fast tech, 0 victory conditions on. Most civs can get at most low class planet, which makes the playing ground much more even. Drengin and Yor disabled. Diplomacy Econ max Federalist party playing as the Iconians (last time) or Arceans (this time).
Some of the claims here seem pretty exaggerated. 1) AI do not trade their tech to every other civ immediately (or near-immediately). This is particularly noticeable when I have a tech lead in the late game and a new minor civ shows up with all my techs, yet those techs still stay pretty much exlusive to me and them. Also if you looked more closely, certain AIs also seem to be shunned and never really get the techs in each game. 2) Bui
Besides looking at what technology and logistics each race starts with, there's another thing to keep in mind. Arceans, Yor, Terrans, Altarians, Drengin all begin with a Civilization Capital on their homeworld. The Drath, Iconian, Thalans, Torians, and Custom Race all begin with an Initial Colony on their homeworld instead. What does this mean? If you play as any of the races from the second group, you're looking at the foll
You're subcontracting your work out to the private megacorporations that abstractedly already handle all the business and economy done by the entire universe. What, did you think work done by the government was efficient?!
It's not as bad as you're making it out be, even on Intelligent AI. 1) Research your own branch 2) Buy new techs that a civ researches 3) Sell those new techs to the other civs 4) But keep the techs you researched to yourself 5) You now have exclusive techs that no one else has, while having all the techs the AIs have. And I have no issues getting military techs from the AI. They won't trade it to you *only* i
Stupid crappy net connection
I'll list out the ones NOT to get. Social Production - Is currently bugged, so Civ-wide social production bonuses have ZERO effect. I don't see them fixing it in the patch notes either. Pop. Growth - because even with 0 bonuses, you're gonna hit the pop. growth cap (200m/turn) so quickly it doesn't matter anyway. Morale - it's being heavily nerfed with the new patch. A 100% morale boost will only give an actual 39 boo
From talking to CariElf, she says she found a possible reason for the cheats detected. Apparently, if you go back and forth in the ability screen, the ability bonuses could be applied twice, giving you too many ability points, so the game will be flagged as a cheated game. She said she was going to go through the database and fix them so your games will become unflagged, but she hasn't gotten around to it yet. But for now, whenev
Someone mentioned this on IRC but didn't seem inclined to actually file a bug report, so I'm doing it instead. If you use a planetary invasion tactic like Mass Drivers, it will severely wipe out the planet's soldier population, but if you don't actually win, the planet PQ won't be reduced. This leads to exploits like sending a troop transport with 1 person, Mass Drivering the planet's population to almost nothing, then follow
You know you can cancel a preorder from EBGames and get a full refund right? And Stardock has mentioned that those with the first batch could contact them for collector's goodies if they don't get it.
Not-so-random question, what race are you using? Did you use the same race both times? As in, unless you're actually using the Custom Race race, every race can be a "custom race"
*Don't* destroy farms. Build something on top of it. You get a small build time bonus for the conversion.
I actually looked at my stats screen recently after starting a game and noticed I had extra stats than what I had picked, so I went through them all and looked at the bonus stats each race gains on top of what is selected. I also put down the techs they get. Terran Social 10 Diplomacy 5 Logistics 6 HyperDrive Xeno Communications Xeno Engineering Yor Economics 10 Social 20
I'm getting the same error as Darth Bobo. I was part of the Totalgaming.net transition, but IIRC, it should be considered a collector's edition electronically.
